I honestly hate it when I see a cockroach approaching my comic book room. And the little monster runs so fast, took me 5 minutes to get him out then splat him with a shoe and flush the carcass down the loo. Other than excrement as with all living creatures, silverfish are the ones to worry about with paper if I remember correctly Did you impale him with a high heel? You could have given a foot fetish cockroach no better way to go.

Out of the 300 pairs of shoes you own, do you have a favorite for smashing bugs? A flip-flop is handy as you get maximum swing if you're trying to bat it from the carpet plus it's easy to wash.

But what if the innards of one of them splashes up onto you if your aim isn't perfect? I'd die. I WOULD DIE.

I saw on Facebook that Earl Norem had passed away. But I can't confirm that anywhere on the interwebs.
Here is hoping it is not the case.

As I wait in the line at the grocery store staring at the magazine rack I realize people are way to concern about celebrity's lives. In an ideal world, we'd have something called the Celebrity Extermination Army, which would serve not only to kill these useless sacks of flesh but would also, by doing so, discourage others from seeking that status. The drooling imbeciles who follow them would presumably be so bereft that they'd do humanity a favor & kill themselves en masse. Yes, I'm extra-cheerful today. Good thing tomorrow isn't a contrived day devoted to making people like me realize all the more painfully how they never actually had fathers worthy of the name & how pathetically misplaced their own aspirations of having children proved to be as their hopeless lives unfolded. Yay for mixed-state bipolar with hypomania. Yay yay yay.

Yay. My problem of having too much spare cash -- I was actually considering an order to Mile High this weekend -- took care of itself this a.m. when Bucky's $28 semimonthly shot for, basically, dermatitis turned into a $209+ bill for a fancy-ass anti-fungal ointment, pills & a couple of cultures. And to think I was going to call the computer guy to see if the other laptop is ready, which would allow me to use it while I get a new screen put in this one before it drives me even further around the damned bend. Son of a damned gun. Those kids and medicine can throw us all off sometimes. Just had the same thing with Hildie.

So our region is in a state of emergency due to flooding. The above video from Saturday morning is the exact scene I drove through, though the opposite direction, on my way home from working night shift Friday. Multiple other areas like this to drive through on the way home, and it even swept the side-skirt off my Ute. The only upside at all is I havent been able to go to work my 12 hour shifts this weekend.
All the bridges into Wanganui, (approx 25 mins away)where I work are shut, multiple highways in the area are closed, and hundreds evacuated. Hoping that waters will recede soon, and my lady will be glad to get rid of me after being cooped up together for 72 hours.
It was interesting sitting here for 2 hours with no power last night, watching a movie on the laptop by candlelight. Thank goodness for the laptop, we almost had to talk to each other.

Thank you Hondobrode. One of my young'uns was able to visit today (the other, sadly, had to work). During the course of our conversation, I discovered that neither she nor her sister had ever seen 1986's Labyrinth, directed by Jim Henson and starring Jennifer Connelly and David Bowie at his Bowie-est as The Goblin King.
This was an embarrassing oversight on my part for which I apologized and then sought to remedy. Watching Labyrinth with your 26 year-old daughter for the first time and having her cackle and squeal with delight as if she were nine again is truly priceless.

His magazine covers, especially on Savage Sword of Conan, made me dream and hope of becoming an artist one day. I hope he knew how much his work had been appreciated. He was a master of his trade.

Hey pak, is it common to have flooding where you live? Not to the level this has been. This has been the worst ever, I believe, usually they get high and a stopbank or two get wet, and every 10 years or so its bad enough to cause a bit of damage. However this was...impressive. ...though by no means wasthere ever any danger of major loss of life unlike the disasters others have survived. God I couldnt imagine having to worry about sodding tornadoes and hurricanes.
