Is anybody ready to talk veggie burgers yet? For me, the undisputed king of the veggie burgers was the spicey bean burger from Burger King. Now sadly discontinued and thus Burger King are dead to me. My daughter is a vegetarian. She likes the Impossible Burgers, of which BK has a version. I've tried some of the fake meat stuff we get for her, and I find it all slightly nauseating. I don't see the point, anyway. Why process perfectly fine non-meat food to fake meat? Just enjoy it in its natural form. If I did want something that looks like a burger or something that seems meaty, I've had some eggplant sandwiches which were not bad.

I had a guy I knew through work that was trying to loose weight at the same time I was that tried to sell me on cauliflower over pasta and/or pizza crust. And I was just like no. I will just go without pasta. There is no way that cauliflower tastes like pasta. I'd rather do without something unhealthy than try and fake it out with a substitute.

That reminds me, foxley , does Foster’s lager taste the same in both the UK and Australia? I don't know. I don't drink alcohol. (Which is very un-Australian, I know).

I guess because some people like the texture of meat and still want to have a burger from time to time, but don't want to contribute to animal suffering, their own ill-health, or a rise in CO₂ levels in the atmosphere. But I do get what you mean; you don't really need to have something that resembles a meat burger that closely. Myself, I never much liked the texture of meat anyway, so I don't really like those plant-based, "impossible"-style burgers, as they are a bit too close to the real thing for my liking. But, of course, that's precisely why some vegetarians and vegans do like them. I much prefer a spicy bean burger, a falafel burger, or a proper veggie burger with vegetables in it and breadcrumbs on the outside.

I like the taste and texture of a burger. I don't particularly care that it comes from a cow. If they were able to make a veggie-based alternative that was indistinguishable from beef and better for any or all of the the environment, health, and the animals, I would be happy to switch.
I don't mind the Impossible Whopper at BK. It tastes *almost* like a Whopper that is a little burned.

What I like the most about the impossible burger is the chemistry behind it. Using leghemoglobin to make it "bleed" was *ahem* bloody clever.

I confessed on Facebook last night that I have been listening to Terri Clark lately. I like her. She's a good singer. My wife's family basically posted "there's hope for you yet" as a yankee in the south for over 20 years I am finally listening to country music. I still mostly only like the older country/bluegrass music but there's some newer stuff I am starting to try. This gal is just a good singer and a lot of her songs have a lot of energy in them. Even my wife last night was like "are you listening to country?" while I played Xbox. She's just one singer so I still retain my yankee badge of honor.

My household is all vegetarian except me, but my wife is an excellent cook and I enjoy a lot of vegetarian cooking even though I also still eat meat. There have been a lot of good white meat substitutes for years I’ve been happy with, but I was never convinced by the burgers (I love a real burger). Just in the last couple of months we’ve tried Beyond Burgers (grocery story), total game changer. I can eat them all day long instead of real burgers.
