Anyone in Florida? Be safe....Helene is a monster. My in-laws aren't in immediate danger but still taking precautions.
Lucky enough to not be in FLA, but here in the Nashville Middle Tennessee area we will get our due some time tomorrow evening through Saturday. We're right in direct projected path of the remainder of the eye, which will essentially be a tropical depression by the time it reaches us. There will be some flash-flooding in low lying areas, but due to the location of my property, flooding has never ever been an issue for me.
Got friends along the west FL coast, but they are well inland in the north Tampa area. They have no power, but are doing fine.
Best wishes to anybody who is riding this out.

Did my Hurricane 35 years ago...Hugo....that was enough for me. Came back to my apartment to find a tree sticking through the ceiling, above my bed. Didn't do much for the decor.

I know people in Georgia and Florida, and some of GA is getting it worse than FL right now. It's insane. We saw on social mideo videos of firefighters boating people around a parking lot in Atlanta.

In about an hour, my high school class will have its 50-year reunion. They're gathering at a hotel in New Jersey; I'll be joining them on Zoom.

East Tennessee and Western North Carolina got the worst of it. I have friends and co-workers in East TN, and they are fortunately all OK, but a bit worse for wear and tear. There were two near-failures of dams, but they held, however, many bridges have been washed out, and some areas of Interstate highways have been closed due to severe erosion and partial roadway collapse. Also, several towns in Unicoi, Johnson and Cocke Counties are still flooded due to river swell. Most of the deaths in TN have been attributed to drowning, usually due to people not evacuating when warned, or due to people driving across a flooded area, thinking they can make it across a road that has been flooded.
Where I live (the geographic center of the state) we got about 3.5 inches of rain, and a few 30mph wind gusts, but that was the worst of it. Fortunately, we didn't experience any tornado spin-ups, since we were on the western side of the cyclonic path.
Thank you for asking.

A day early, but we've made it to October folks~ And in similar lip sync glory, KISS, on the Paul Lynde Halloween Special..... That thing was glorious cheese, with Uncle Arthur, Witchiepoo and The Wicked Witch of the West....and KISS! Saw it on its original broadcast....dumb jokes but great performers.

The Paul Lynde Halloween special is available on DVD, including the Kiss "performances." Probably out of print by now, but it's out there.

A big happy 100th birthday to Jimmy Carter!! I have his book here. Not sure if it’s a memoir or focusing on a particular policy, but they had it in a discount bookstore, so I picked it up without reading the blurb. I shall try and read it soon.

My computer room must be right below my upstairs neighbor's bedroom (the apartments have two bedrooms, one each on opposing sides of the building). More often than I care to experience, I can hear their activity and I don't mean walking around and dropping things. I don't mind the bedsprings so much as the asthmatic moaning and grunting. I've heard quieter porno movies.
I don't mind them gettin' some, don't care if they are getting freaky with it; just would prefer not to hear noises that sound like someone squeezing a bellows to expel it, like in The Princess Bride. It never deviates, either.
The joys of apartment living.

Or maybe they are both hard of hearing...and just really like watching Anal Invaders II.

And I have wondered about the subject of your suggested title, far more than I cared to. No sounds to suggest The Secretary, though I did once hear something like that from the apartment above the communal laundry room, while removing and folding my clothes. Ironically, my first time with Barb, in her apartment, did lead to a response from her downstairs neighbor, at one point. More from the volume of the music she had on, I think, then anything generated by us. I will say nothing is worse than hearing sounds from your parents' bedroom, in the middle of the night!
