I don't know, as The Kynd is quite popular among American politicians!

Ashamed to say I participated in a superhero trivia night with my wife at a local brewery yesterday and *ugh* didn't win. We did really well (I did really well) but there was some stiff competition. As soon as I heard one of the other teams was named the "Wet Coast Avengers" (we live in the PNW) I knew there were other serious geeks in the building

(Actually, I read it was a Charles Mingus album). Indeed it was, as well as a Roy Ayers album and Porgy & Bess. Here's a vid of her going through her purchases:

You're in this neighborhood? I live near Portland and Cei-U! is in Tacoma. When life was normal we went to local cons once or twice a year - Emerald City, Grit City, Rose City, etc. Someday we'll be able to resume. And some day we'll lure Slam in from the wilds of Idaho.

I'm in BC, Canada, about 6hrs from Portland and much less to Tacoma

As soon as I heard one of the other teams was named the "Wet Coast Avengers" (we live in the PNW) I knew there were other serious geeks in the building I guess it all depends on the questions asked even if the theme is one you’re familiar with. I was at a pub quiz once. Rounds alternated between general knowledge and specific themes. An early round was about trees. Other than palm and oak trees, my knowledge is severely lacking in that area. So I knew I’d do badly. However, there was a round on rock music. Great! Ask me about Queen, Pink Floyd or KISS - and I’ll do well. Except that they asked questions mainly about bands I wasn’t too familiar with. My teammate wasn’t a rock music fan. So we did badly. Incidentally, around 2006, I went to a pub quiz and one question asked how many Bond films there had been. My friend and I began with 1962’s Doctor No and worked our way to the then-contemporary release of Casino Royale. But we weren’t sure if the non-canonical Never Say Never Again film would count. Turns out the quizmaster had had many teams asking that question, so he decided he’d accept two answers based on if a team wished to include the non-canonical film. On a final note, my team once came second in a pub quiz - prize was a bar of Toblerone for each of us. Not a chocolate bar I particularly care for, if I’m honest.

Yes, but did you also include the original Casino Royale from 1967, which is also technically a James Bond film (a full blown spoof), but also very non-canonical to the Eon Productions/Broccoli/Saltzman productions.

Also, don't forget the Casino Royale TV movie! (The only reason I know it exists is that it was mentioned in a Starlog article a very long time ago).

I was in a trivia contest once, I think it was at a Gen Con, where each table was a team and the questions came from every Trivial Pursuit set they could find except the standard one. It came down to my table and one other trying to answer questions from the Australian set, and it became apparent pretty quickly that the winner would be a matter of luck, because nobody had a clue about any of those. Winner ended up being the other table when the answer was Evonne Goolagong.
