In the days before the internet and before the mainstream started to take an active interest in classic films again, Video Yesteryear was the best way to obtain the silent and early talkie classics for home video.
These days, most of what they offered is now available in better quality formats, but they had a few obscure titles that you still can't obtain easily today, plus they had that original Rosa Rio organ music and the Acu-Speed technology that slowed down generally overclocked silent films.
I wish I could view the old catalogs again. I've seen one or two pop up on ebay, but the collection was changing all the time. I wish there was a site that offered pdfs of a variety of Video Yesteryear catalogs. I know there are several films I ordered from them as a boy (shhhh...they thought I was 18) for which I can no longer recall the names.

Shaxper, Video Yesteryear LinkWhen, I had a VHS Machine and I only had one copy of their tape "Nazi War Crime Trials" because I love History so much and I had a old college (unfortunately he passed away 10 years ago in an auto accident) friend that was quite familiar with this service and I had him getting me a copy of this VHS Tape. Because of my hectic work schedule I couldn't get any more copies and then when I managed to get hold of him - I heard that he died because his family hang on his e-mail just in case anyone out there wants to talk to him. So, I tried to get hold of the catalog company that distributed them and inquire on getting "Fantastic Planet" ... my letter of inquiry came back to my address and with a Stamp on it "Return to Sender" on it. It was nine years ago and I wanted to get that tape so I can watch it at my Brother's place because he still have his VHS PLAYER in excellent shape and all that. I managed to watch it 2 times on his machine. I wished my friend were alive; but I do remember them briefly and this is all I can think of at this moment. I do know they operated on the East Coast - destination unknown but they had a very small VHS market. Because the advent of DVD and Blu Ray Players today - I reluctantly gave my copy to the local library and they had a small collection of Video Yesteryear in their collection until 5 years ago I learned that they sold their collection to a private buyer that gotten all the library copies and that's was the end of it. This is the best I could - as I remembered it.

Thanks for this. It's not much, but it's a lot more than I was able to find on the web. Sorry to hear about your friend.

I remember they used to have pages and pages of ads in FilmFax magazine. If my scanner worked I could scan a whole lot of them.
