Hale&Pace 2nd Smith&Smith series Fry&Laurie Mitchell&Webb if you liked those and assuming you havent seem them and thought they were rubbish you might also like fast show pheonix nights nathan barley peep show 3 of those were shown on channel 4 here tho so might be hard to see in USA Of those, I've only seen Peep Show. As much as I love David Mitchell, I was really bored with the first episode. I may try it again later on.

Speaking of international shows, This Is England '86 and '88 are some of the best. They follow up a very good movie of the same title set in 1984. The TV show cast is made up of the same cast as the movie, there is no dip in quality. I'm wondering why the two television seasons weren't filmed as movies. There's supposed to be a final season that takes place in 1990 eventually. if you liked those you might also like en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Red_Riding - obviously a tough watch though. That does look interesting, thanks for the link. I'll have to check that out

- If you're watching THRONES on HBOGO, select "extras & credits" and then select "recap of [previous episode]." It's not reall just a recap of the previous episode, it's the two minute "previously on" reminding you of what's relevant for the new episode.
- THICK OF IT is all on Hulu. Hulu actually co-produced the final season. It is very funny, but I've only gotten though the first couple seasons.
- WILFRED is great, as mentioned on the other TV thread.
- There is another TV thread.

However, it does allow them to have the characters narrate their thoughts while you look through their eyes which opens up a lot of new comedy. After 3 or 4 episodes I was pretty locked into it and loved all 5 or 6 series (or however many there were). I'd say its definitely worth persevering with in my opinion.

Probably X-Files, Batman TAS and Simpsons. Recently I've been watching Futurama on netflix and don't remember liking it as much when it came out as I have now. Chappelle's show is still great. That's probably the sum of my TV show watching for the last 2 1/2 decades.
I've tried shows and lost interest or held on and wished I didn't. I enjoyed the parts that I did but it seems too many shows actually loose their strength as they become popular, because they don't know when to stop including three of the above mentioned ...
Fringe Angel Seinfeld How I Met Your Mother Scrubs
I've heard that Big Bang Theory is getting that way. I haven't watched past season 3 but have no desire to see more. I've heard it's turned into a huge geek stereo type.

Fair enough. Like I said it just things I've read on the internet and such as to what I know about these later seasons. I'll for sure buy 4 at some point to see them return from the Arctic. Just not sure on how far to follow after that.

Nathan Barley was very good. Haven't seen the other two ironchimp mentioned. I just finished True Detective last night and I'd say it mostly lives up to the hype. I could quibble with a few things here and there, but on the whole it really was outstanding. Not sure I'm looking forward to the next year, though - some of the actors rumoured to be involved tend to rub me the wrong way (e.g. Vince Vaughn). Then again, I've never been a big fan of Woody Harrelson but I managed to put up with him in this one.

Big Bang Theory reminds me of a lot of older comedies with severely exaggerated characters. Kramer on Seinfeld, Urkel on Family Matters, even Latka on Taxi. Except the series has three of these characters (as main characters, several more in supporting and guest roles) instead of one. More like Married With Children, where every character was the Urkel of the show. Eventually, as the series progresses, the characters will be more and more comfortable in their character, and you'll see them get more and more exaggerated. Look at Season One of any show mentioned and compare the "Urkel" type character to the final season. Married With Children in particular. It was almost a cartoon at the end. At least that's what I'm predicting for Big Bang at one point or another. Not that it has to be a bad thing. The Office was at least 80% these types of characters.

I think Vince Vaughn will be interesting, he'll be the villain from what I've heard, which is a bit of a departure from his usual roles. Also the focus on more female main characters would be a welcome addition.

The last interview I read said the female lead wasn't happening anymore because Pizzolatto was offended by some people complaining the females in the first season were hollow characters and didn't want to come off as catering to criticism.

Last I heard Elizabeth Moss and Michelle Forbes were in the running for the female lead (couple of days ago).
