Out of curiosity, was there anyone here who was satisfied with the How I Met Your Mother series finale? I've chosen not to watch the final season at all. From everything I've heard, this was a good decision.

The X-Files - this was my first "must watch every episode" show, but only the first five seasons; I gave up after the first movie Buffy the Vampire Slayer - this really hasn't held up that well, as the themes that it covered don't resonate with me much any more Angel - this, however, is on my regular rewatch list, as I feel it is better, overall, than BtVS was over its course Firefly - did not watch this when it was on originally, so I'm to blame for it not surviving to a second season Supernatural - started watching at the end of the second season and have been with it ever since
Scrubs - up until they cancelled it and relaunched it. Chuck - the first show my wife and I watched together on a weekly basis Community - six seasons...and a movie? How I Met Your Mother - I've seen every episode, except the finale, which I heard about and refuse to watch, because it's a cop-out Modern Family - one of my wife and my "appointment" shows Sleepy Hollow - loved the first season and can't wait to see what they do with the upcoming one Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. - didn't live up to my expectations initially, but after CA: TWS came out, it really hit its stride South Park - watched every episode for a while, but I think I got tired of it when it became "Cartman and the other three kids" Futurama - like this so much more than The Simpsons Chapelle's Show - the first two seasons were genius, the third one not so much

I have cable and a tv, I just haven't liked very much from the last quarter century.
I'll include The Simpsons since most of it has occurred since 1990. Still my favorite tv show of all time and the only tv program left I try to watch when there is a new episode.
Futurama Arrested Development South Park Chapelle's Show The Critic In Living Color Family Guy (sometimes) some kids animated super hero cartoons would make the list as well
I think the only HBO Original series I've ever watched was Dream On. I think the last show on NBC I liked was Night Court.
My tv watching is pretty much confined to news, weather and sports these days.

Can't believe I forgot this. I'd put it above everything on my list except Venture Bros. Much like yourself, I didn't watch it during its run and blame you for it getting cancelled.

Young Indiana Jones Chronicles Sorry to pick on you for this one, but GAWD, what drudgery! That was just a slog through the uninteresting bits of Haggard and Howard. Deathly dull.

Did anyone mention House? LAW and Order criminal intent Nope, I should have though I like that show very much. I feel like I would enjoy the Venture Bros more if I knew a little more about Jonny Quest (which it's a parody of?). Idk I feel like I'm missing something when I watch it.

It didn't resonate with me, but I always suspected that the reason was that I wasn't smart enough to keep up.

Well my training is in history and I am a bit of a history buff, so that played a big part of it for sure. And since the topic is favorites and not best, my only argument is going to be I liked it, you didn't, but it's still a favorite of mine. Which is cool, because, as has been said before, if we all had the same tastes, the world would be dreadfully boring. -M

Having never seen an episode of Johnny Quest (but having a very general idea of the premise), I don't feel like I'm missing anything. It's more about the sort of adult that a "boy adventurer" would grow into than a straight-up parody.

Though it started in 1989, most of The Simpsons is post 1990. And even at it's worst it's still better than the vast majority of tv comedies.
Archer The Venture Bros.
I watch the vast majority of TV either on DVD or streaming. I just can't make myself do the appointment TV thing.

A lot of titles already mentioned. I'm currently watching the first season of True Detective and it's pretty fascinating so far.
