Was the original Baywatch any better, though? I could never get into it, myself.

I saw Alien: Covenant last night and all I can say was that it was just okay. There were some great visuals, like the solar sails unfolding, and the city of the Pilots but there wasn't a lot of substance. I think I could have just enjoyed it more for a decent popcorn action movie if the cgi for the aliens, especially as they first emerge was better. It just looked so fake and cheap that it made me sort of nit pick everything else.

The CGI alien(s) felt like they weren't realistic enough and the shortened/quickened birthing cycle was too much. The entire movie felt like it took place within one afternoon when it should more realistically been over a period of days to weeks. This movie seemed about pushing the special effects. Fassbender was excellent as the synthetic man once more. Everything done interior aboard covenant was impressive and some of the planet side effects were gorgeous. An only okay continuance of style over substance in the end. Hope Ridley Scott can tie it up with a grand finale and then Fox studio's allow the series to gestate for a while before more the eventual rebooting.

Baywatch starring the Rock, Dwayne Johnson Movie I just can't believe this ... and I'm going to pass this up! At least they aren't taking it seriously. At first i was certainly NOT going to see a movie based on Baywatch. Now after having seen several trailers that have some genuinely laugh out loud funny jokes i have reconsidered. The saving grace of this movie will rely on The Rock and Efron's comedic duo. The Rock has already shown he can carry off the humor easily enough and him messing with Efron looks so hilarious i am optimistically hopeful for some good laughs with this movie.

Not to mention that the movie was filled with every horror trope in the book and the characters were just as utterly inept as the scientists in Prometheus. Ridley Scott is done The guy can still make a great looking movie with stunning visuals and landscapes...and that's about it. It's time for him to hang it up IMO. Thank God he isn't directing the new Blade Runner, otherwise I would have no hope for it whatsoever. In fact, cut out all of the xenomorph stuff and just focus on David trying to play God and the movie would've been infinitely more interesting.

I think he is done so far as making the big blockbuster moneymaker of summer trying to fulfill the Studio needs and desires. When he creates something completely his own and totally new then i believe he may have something to show us yet.

My wife and I both saw Wonder Woman last night, and we really enjoyed it! It seems like DC finally got one right. Caveat that I am not a big DC reader, so I can't say how well it fared as an adaptation, how faithful it is to what version, etc, but we both really enjoyed it for what it was. Without spoiling anything, I really liked the tone. It was not as OH SO DARK AND SO SERIOUS JADED EDDDGGY!!!!! like BvS, etc

That's the most important thing for any movie, comic-book based or otherwise : one should be able to enjoy it without having ever heard of its characters before. A movie should not be a faithful adaptation first and a good movie second, because then we pretty much get Watchmen... It should be a good movie first and foremost, and if it's true to the source material then so much the better. I'm glad to see you enjoyed WW !

Took my 7 year old niece to Wonder Woman whom she had never heard of before.
We both liked it of course.
Really glad it's gotten the strong reviews and good press. Good movie.
Now I'm looking forward to Valerian. Go to YouTube to see the trailers. Amazing !

I saw this trailer a couple of weeks ago and thought some of the casting looked pretty good. It was the first Agatha Christie novel I read and I really enjoyed it so I will probably check this out.
