Shax: If your daughter ever gets comfortable with subtitled videos, I think she'd enjoy Macross Frontier. Content-wise, I'd give it a PG rating. There's no nudity, though one of the female characters is very obviously, ridiculously well-endowed, and another character sometimes wears skimpy clothing (but she's a pop star and the outfits are her stage costumes). Violence-wise, it's about what you'd expect for a sci-fi show with lots of space battles, i.e., mostly vehicular violence rather than physical. What it has going for it is the soap opera/love triangle, which is a main part of the plot. It's also has a bunch of catchy J-Pop. I'm told that those two aspects have made the show popular with young Japanese girls. And of course, there's the mecha action. I'd say these two clips give you a pretty good sense of what to expect. This is definitely persuasive. When we're done with the complete Robotech saga, I'll present it to her as an option. Thanks!

What's the consensus on Gundam Wing? I used to love that show, the characters and the mecha. Somewhat heavy on the war vs peace moral debate but still enjoyable. . I personally think it still holds up. Wing was my 'gateway Gundam show' so to speak, so I was afraid my opinion on it might be coloured by nostalgia, but I saw snippets of it in recent years, and thought it was still very good. And I believe most people appreciate Wing nowadays. IIRC, the main criticism of the show was its bishounen designs for the pilots. And that's just a cosmetic thing. Wing is cool because none of the pilots are traditional heroes per se, and are very, very fallible. While typing this, I'm actually watching my Gundam Seed DVDs. Now THERE's another polarizing entry into the Gundam mythos. What did you think of it?

I loved the names of the characters. They were all based on numbers. Literally. Great political story as well. I always liked Zechs Merquise in the Tallgeese. It was just a great look. I liked it more than the Epyon.

The majority of anime models I own are Bandai's plastic models of the Gundam mechas. So far though I haven't watched more entries in the Gundam franchise and I'm not exactly sure why. Why is Gundam Seed viewed as polarizing? As for Macross, yes, I'm aware of *ahem* other avenues to see such shows but I wasn't sure if I had missed some new change in the status quo or not. Recently, I was able to find a 3 DVD set of Frontier, subtitled, region free code. After watching the first few episodes, the subtitling is decent, Sheryl is not lacking in the ego department and the mecha action is fast and furious.

After watching the Robotech Saga, what series are you watching now? My older daughter fell off the anime wagon after The Macross Saga, unfortunately. My younger one still wants to keep watching, but we'll wait until they're both ready to resume. For now, we're all watching Bewitched together. Yeah, we jump genres like that

from ComicBookResources.com Cult-favorite '80s anime series "Robotech" is returning to comics. Comics Alliance has learned that Titan Comics has partnered with TV production company Harmony Gold USA to adapt "Robotech" to comics beginning in early 2017. The creative team behind "Robotech's" return will be announced by Titan in the coming weeks Created by re-editing three different anime series, “Robotech” originally aired in syndication in the United States in 1984. It’s a sci-fi epic in which the human race finds itself on the brink of annihilation and under attack by a fleet of gigantic alien warships capable of destroying Earth. Humanity’s only hope for survival lies within the secrets of Robotechnology, which allows humans to develop powerful transforming robotic systems and interstellar spacecraft. "Robotech" has been no stranger to comics over the past 30 years; publishers Comico and DC Comics published stories in the '80s, and Dynamite Entertainment published a "Robotech/Voltron" crossover series as recently as 2013. "Robotech" joins a long list of properties licensed by Titan Press, which includes "Doctor Who," "Torchwood," "Assassin's Creed" and more. This isn't the only big "Robotech" news to arrive in 2016, either; it was announced in May that the anime's entire 85-episode run is streaming on Crackle Anime.

I'll give these a shot.
Despite being incredibly behind on my reading of them, I've really enjoyed Titan's Doctor Who books.

This is basically a cash grab from a company that continues to sit on the Macross license without producing anything worthwhile. Oh excuse me, there's that live action movie they've been promising for ten years now.
