Again, if my topic is too "low brow" for sophisticated persons such as yourself...simply scroll right past. Oh don't mind me, I always remain of the optimistic nature and hope that a potentially great topic will catch up with its ambition. Give us that, with such bold assessments as True Romance or Leon withholding the most awesome scenes in history, we're entitled to have a little fun with this, nothing mean spirited Nothing mean spirited at all, I'm just not seeing where the angst is coming from regarding this topic. Just thought I'd start a thread about movie scenes full of machismo that many of us would enjoy. Certainly didn't expect any backlash

Steamboat Bill Jr. Buster Keaton had only a few inches of clearance in a stunt that had cameramen and crew covering their eyes, certain they were watching his last moments on Earth:

LOL You seem really bitter No, I just find it laughable and sad when the mob mentality globs onto a slang term or phrase without really knowing what it means But that's half the things people say in everyday (even not everyday) conversations. So many words have turned into other words. "Ain't" is now an acceptable word, and it NEVER was when I was growing up.

Sorry if you felt this as backlash, but I guess this board indeed isn't the CBR one. We might take art and language more seriously than over there and enjoy trying to discuss those beyond the juvenile character that also exists within those. So of course there's nothing wrong with some mindless fun, but don't expect some kind of contradiction/discussion when you come up with definitive bold categories such as "most in history"

Certainly didn't expect any backlash For what it's worth, I use "badass" in the sense it's most commonly used. The historical aspect is interesting, though; it's like what happened to Murphy's Law, which is today treated as some kind of natural law forecasting doom instead of a warning to engineers to always anticipate what could possibly go wrong.

Roger Moore's best bad ass scene ever, and it's not as 007. In the Wild Geese, he makes a druglord eat a bag of heroin as though it's sherbert.

Everyone can feel free to post what they want. Doesn't just have to be people getting blown away. I didn't realize everything had to be so serious, especially on a forum devoted to funny books.

Exactly, instead of being singled out as bitter, I would have expected MRP's clarificaion of the expression usefull and welcomed by most. I would also use the expression loosely in the current fashion, but I certainly feel more in charge of my own discourse when I know where my expressions come from.

The guy essentially called me a giant wuss just for posting a topic that pertains to scenes from action movies. LOL How sheltered do you have to be to realize the term "badass" has been used on a regular basis by the male population for decades? As if liking big screen action sequences makes you some kind of puss in life. If that's the case, then dump the books and snatch the lunch money from 95% of the male populace.

MRP neither called you anything, nor even named you, he just adressed the current miss-use of a specific expression, to which you retorted he was bitter. And I guess the general consensus here is to not have a black and white picture of society where there would be bad asses on one side and "wusses and pusses" on the other . Another general consensus is thatthere is nothing great or awesome about that sad punisher movie...

And for your last point....well, yeah. All of the Punisher movies sucked. Certainly no argument from me there.

In which world is giving educated information snobbish and pretentious? I don't follow. If that was true, you would then consider that all the journalists who conrfont Trump with his half truths and lies snobs and pretentious people?

Chaplin roller skating in Modern Times:
Not only do I love this, and love that it's posted here, but I swear on my LIFE I had those same rollerskates when I was 7 years old. They were old. And metal. And they belonged to my friend. And we used to skate around her garage to Prince's "Purple Rain" album. AHHHH. MEMORIES.

It was meant as a topic to post movies scenes that were bada..oh wait...movie scenes that are "a violent understudy into the thought process that the male populace seems to permeate towards". And what does politics have to do with this? I realize that this board is HEAVILY liberal (well, ALL liberal) but what does that have to do with this? Anywho, I'll just go back to posting some more incredibly badass, totally gnarly movie scenes.
