First of all, let me say that while I'm dang proud to be an American, obviously we're not perfect and there are good people and cultures 'round the globe.
What makes me exceptionally proud of being an American ?
The Great Melting Pot - All the different peoples and cultures of the world who come here and add to our great smorgasbord here. Americans have come from somewhere else and have all come to the U.S. with the dream of a better life and those families knowing their roots and building on that dream generations later. Everyone that comes here still remembers where they're from, but adopt and adapt and become uniquely American.
Land of the Free and Home of the Brave - Free expression and exchange of ideas, when when we don't agree with some of them (Nazis, KKK). We also are the most generous and are there to promote freedom and protect others.
The Land of Opportunity - Free enterprise and capitalism; hard work and following your dream. Prosperity not only here in the U.S., but around the globe in the new global economy.
Checks and Balances - Our elected president, balanced Congress with the Senate giving every state, big and small, an equal vote, and the House of Representatives, with proportional voting, and the Supreme Court, once appointed answerable only to their own selves. Great that everyone, except felons, are able to vote, and everyone's vote counts equally. Along with the justice system, one of the most fair and free countries in the world.
Separation of Church & State - need I say more ?
Research and Development - Silicon Valley, the Internet, Apple, Google, IBM, Detroit, biotech, life-saving healthcare technologies and medicines, NASA, US agriculture feeding the world
Two World Wars - No question about it, the world would be very different without the US's participation
50 states - We are all America, but we're also 50 different members of the same family; 50 different laboratories if you will
American Entertainment - Hollywood, Motown, jazz, rock & roll, video games

Land of opportunity, especially if you're a capitalist pig. We know how to deep fry our capitalist pigs

The wine. The beer.
The coast of California.
That's a start.
EDIT: On the other hand, Belgium has better beer. So maybe that shouldn't count. Or can I still love the beer of the USA even if I love the beer of Belgium more?

As a Canadian looking in, I love that I don't live there. You've given us some great TV shows/movies/novels/comics/video games/music, but I'm quite happy to watch/read/play/listen to them from a safe distance.

Amateur hour. The Iowa State fair sells deep fried sticks of butter. The obvious follow-up to that is... why?

Separation of Church & State - need I say more ? Nope! That's one of the greatest political ideas ever, and I wish more countries were clear about it.

I love virtually most everything about the USA. At least in concept or theory.

Your Celine Dion and Justin Bieber are on my yard. Get them off! But Grimes can stay on our yard. As can Neil Young and Joni Mitchell.
