I think it's great that Martin Luther, errr, Shax, splintered off from That Other Entity and has created something Bigger Better and Stronger over here.
Less flaming and sniping, and more meat and potatoes free expression and exchange of ideas in a gentlemanly manner.
Girls is welcome too !

Speaking of 92 (and I didn't know this when writing the last response), we broke the record again about an hour ago

Guest outnumber actual posting members 13 to 1. It would be cool if we could also measure how many registered users were on at one time. Of course, we also have quite a few registered users who are online nearly every day but have never actually posted. Maybe it's the creepy "peeping tom" comments and cosplay avatars keeping them away

Why don't the other 700 sign up? Sign up to a message board? Eeewwwww!!!! That is so 2002! This puzzles me too, but I guess ultimately that some people just like to follow a FB page to read the posts in their newsfeed. I mean, I'm a big R.E.M. fan and I'm perfectly happily to follow their official Facebook page, but no way in hell do I want to join an R.E.M. discussion forum. On the CCF Facebook page there is sometimes banter between random followers and shaxper, after he makes a post. But ultimately I guess those people have no interest in actually joining us here, although I bet they lurk. By the way, I just want to say to shaxper that I think you're doing a fantastic job with the FB page and the way you interact with followers is great. Keep it up!

On the CCF Facebook page there is sometimes banter between random followers and shaxper, after he makes a post. But ultimately I guess those people have no interest in actually joining us here, although I bet they lurk. Consumer psychology suggests that most folks prefer convenience over anything else, especially when surfing the web. Thus, signing up to a new place and even adjusting to the layout will often seem like too much work. The reason I try to prompt discussion is, if I can get someone fired up enough about one topic to want to participate in the CCF thread, then that hurdle is already overcome and its easier for them to come back as a regular member. You'll find most members of any given forum didn't arrive there by looking for a new place to discuss things. They came in regard to one specific discussion thread and then decided to stick around. And we have so many fascinating discussion threads here. Meanwhile, while facebook definitely can't offer the depth of discussion and sense of community that a discussion forum can, it takes pretty much no effort to join a facebook group. Thank you, my friend! I'm glad you think so.
