With so many troubling headlines staring us in the face everyday I sometimes feel a little down and so I often find myself searching for a little positivity to pick me back up and thought there should be a place here to share those brighter stories. Here's one I found today that made me smile: 300 manatees basking in a hot springFeel free to share your own positive stories her as well.

Here's something else I saw online that I enjoyed:
British bystander trips running suspect
I love that the guy was so casual about it.

My car's windshield wipers stopped working on January 18. The car is 25 years old, and no one stocks the parts any more. I had to order a windshield wiper transmission/linkage assembly from Japan. It arrived yesterday and I'll finally get my car back tonight.

My tax return was accepted by the IRS! I'm so glad that I live in an era of online tax filing and electronic W2 uploads.

My wife was sworn in as a US citizen today. Congratulations! I hope she uses her newfound voting power wisely (ie. anybody but Trump).

One of the magazines I subscribe to is The Week. They review the last week's worth of news, but they pull editorial snippets and opinions from both left and right sources to compare and contrast.
Anyway, every issue there's a little section of sunshine called "It Wasn't All Bad." Perfect for this thread.
Retired public-school teacher Elizabeth Verdow had said for years she'd leave the Detroit Institute of Arts a gift in her will. But when the 86-year-old passed away, the museum was stunned by the size of her donation : $ 1.7M. Verdow, who volunteered at the museum's gift shop for 19 years, stipulated that the DIA use the money to buy new contemporary paintings and sculpture. "She was the quietest and most unassuming person I've ever met," said Anna Helkowsky, the shop's manager. "I did not know the extent of her passion."
