Dear Members and GuestsI have seen about every Godzilla Movies since it's origin back in 1954 and I'm planning on reviewing each and everyone of these movies from my own perspective and I'm going to try to be reasonable about them. I will try to do a Monster Spotlight on some of the famous TOHO Studio that's related to the Godzilla Franchise. I will not review movies that are made in United States because those movies aren't considered worthy to be mentioned in the same breath as Godzilla that made in Japan. I will start this when the time is right - starting with Godzilla (1954) and proceed down in order and I try to do the best job that I can and it's won't be as picture heavy like I did with my 50 BEST Supporting Characters that's will come to the close by tomorrow morning in the Classic Comic Discussion Board. I will try my best to find You Tube Clips of the various TOHO Monsters and some of the my favorite scenes and well as memorable ones as well. I will use the Gold Stars to rate each of these movies as they come up ... 5 for being the best film and 1 being the poorest film on record. I will try to grade these films in the best of my ability and come up with my own conclusions to the best of my knowledge. It's will start sometimes next week and let's Godzilla roars his way ... Godzilla roars ... starting with 1954!

Godzilla holds a special place in my heart because when my kids were born we were living right next to a Blockbuster video that had a copy of pretty much every one of the big guy's movies. We watched them together for years and years.
Apart from the original film, which is something of a masterpiece, I can't say much for the cinematic quality of the series... but how much fun they were! (Even the smog monster one!!!) I even liked the Sony reboot and the cartoon it spawned.
Like James Bond, Godzilla is a character who can make us happy just by announcing he'll be back soon; we don't even need to actually see the movie. This teaser really brought a smile to my face the first time i saw it:
Really looking forward to your reviews, MG!!!

Huge fan, and I even appreciate the American ones (the Lizardzilla one is a great monster film, even if it ISN'T a Godzilla one). I will say the later Japanese films had tons of filler material, and several of them (in particular Final Wars. which is more of a "spy/James Bond" type film, with just Godzilla added in). . . feature very little of the Big G himself. those that criticized the most recent American film (which is excellent, by the way) as not having enough Godzilla in it.. obviously have not seen much of the later Japanese output.

In addition to the Marvel series from the 70s, Godzilla has another comic book connection. Former Marvel and DC writer Tony Isabella is the pastor of the First Church of Godzilla (Reform). He writes movingly about our scaly lord and his fiery atomic love. www.google.com/webhp?#q=tony%20isabella%20church%20godzilla

Because of the problems with my family and all; I learned a lot from my Brother who is the Power of Attorney for my Dad's Estate and having said that I'm his assistant and we are taking it easy and it's going to be a long drag out affair trying to make things right for everyone.
It's more complicated than you think and I will be focusing on this thread for the remaining course of the year. This thread will probably takes me 25 to 40 weeks to cover and I wanted to do a very good job writing things up and watching all the movies first-hand so I can pinpoint the main areas that I want to cover here. My Batman Thread will takes place in 2017.
Be patient with me and I will cover as much ground that I can possibly can.

GODZILLA 1954 CLASSICI watched this movie for the millionth times yesterday just before Denver crushed Carolina in the 50th Super Bowl by the score of 24 to 10. I was shocked by the tenacity of Denver's Defense and I wanted forgo watching the all the Super Bowl commentaries beforehand. Anyway, it was a classic Monster Movie and lives up it's billing back in 1954. Anyway, here's the scoop: In the beginning of the movie I watched as a Japanese Freighter Eiko-Maru is destroyed near Odo Island and that's when it's all got started in the first place. Later on ... Eiko-Maru SinksBingo-Maru is sent out to investigate and this time suffered the same fate with very few survivors and later on a fishing boat from Odo is also destroyed with only one survivor who after saying a few words died after being rescued by beachcombers and later on the livelihood of the Fishing Industry on Odo Island drops down to zero and an elder on that island blamed on the ancient sea creature known to all of us Godzilla. Bingo-Maru SinksLater on, Reporters arrive on Odo Island to further investigate. A concerned villager tells one of the reporters that "something large" ruining the fishing industry that happen to be their only source of income for all of them to survive on. This raises many questions and having said that; and later on the evening a huge storm strikes the island like a hurricane destroying the Helicopter that flew in on Odo Island and causing more destruction on the island and destroying over a dozen homes, nine residents, and nearly two dozen livestock(s) as well. This gave them more urgency to investigate further ... After much concerns about all of this going on; Odo residents travels to Tokyo to demand disaster relief and evidence of something monstrous is destroying everything in it's path and the the scientific community was sent to Odo Island to investigate the matter and having said that they discovered that the ground is saturated of radioactivity and leading paleontologist Kyohei Yamane of where giant footprints were found and a resident has rung the bell warning everyone disaster is coming their way. Many residents and reporters along with the scientific community from Tokyo and Godzilla made his first appearance on Odo Island. Footprints of Godzilla - Awesome Scene it was! That one short scene forever burned an image on my mind forever! Godzilla First Appearance on Odo IslandMany Odo Residents were frightened by the mere glimpse of Godzilla here and let out a roar that chilled everyone mind and the whole world knows that disaster is coming your way and that will continues with part two in a day or two. More to come ... and there is whole lot of ground to cover! I need time to think about it ...
