Because if I have to pick what next week's theme, well, you know how I am. Dammit, I am that transparent, huh? It will be/would be the best cover contest EVER. You know it, and I know it.

Every time I see one of these "There, I said it" threads I think of this song:
It was actually the Bobby Vinton version I was familar with but while searching for it on youtube I came across this earlier rendition that I now like better. Sam Cooke covered it too, which I hadn't known.

The American health care system is a complete and utter joke and is completely unbecoming of the most powerful nation in the world. It needs to be blown up and rebuilt from the ground up.

What is it about us that we are so opposed to everyone receiving the benefits of the greatest medical minds and technicians in the world? Why is a single-payer system amathema? Why do the pharmaceutical and insurance companies control the availabilty and affordabilty of treatment? Why do we favor paying for catastrophic care, often caused by our failure to pay for preventative care? Somebody talk to me like I'm ten years old, please.

I never in a zillion years would have thought that the Cover Contest would be the most controversial thread on this site. There, I said it!! I think everyone should do what I do. Don't look at any of the covers. Just see which covers get talked about the most and then vote for those. It's not that hard.

Especially since most western countries with lifestyles similar to the US's do have a universal system that works. But of course a cynical mind might say that they're also countries where political contributions by companies are either forbidden or severely limited. A political system in which money speaks louder than the will of the people is an abomination. There! I've said it.

I love the USA, but it's a capitalistic country where greed rules.
