To be honest it's why I haven't participated in so long. I have a hard time participating in it because it's sooooooo difficult to vote for a favorite. Especially this month's contest. I love every cover posted. There are at least 3 that are making it impossible for me to pick a favorite. I never vote: I just play along for fun and hope I never win because I only post in the middle of the night so when I have won I only learned after the fact when the 2nd place poster has already been asked to step up.

I don't want to seem disgruntled and take away from others enjoyment of said thread but it just seems some take things to seriously and nit pick at others submissions. "A silhouette isn't a shadow" rather than just not commenting and not voting for what seems outside the OP's parameters for that week's contest. And maybe I'm being thin skinned. Either way no animosity towards anyone. Was just kind of jumping off the other comments in this thread. I hadn't even looked at this weeks contest before it. Sorry. I was intending to single out people. Oh, yeah, I remember that. There have been a few instances of that, I guess, but overall, I always thought the vast majority of participants just had fun posting a cover they'd had fun finding. I can see where the example you mention would come across as nit-picky; I felt the same way. And you're right; people shouldn't be evaluating others' choices, which the rules clearly state. If you don't think a cover fits the criteria, just don't vote for it. Maybe if more community members who see the contest as just a bit of fun gave the thread a shot, the tone you clearly perceive might change. I hope you and others will. And btw, Adam, far from being thin-skinned, you are one of the most open-minded posters on these boards, as well as being honest and respectful. Your comments carry weight. Thanks Hal. And I'll try and give it a new endevour. And I hope every one got the context it "was not intending to single anyone out" not what I didn't proofread and typed. My apologies.

I enjoy the cover contest. Sometimes I don't submit anything because I can't think of a good one and sometimes I don't vote because nothing stands out to me (whether I think they're all equally good or bad) but I like participating when I can.

I actually want to to enter this time. But I am stuck on two different covers. And I know mine won't win, but I lovelovelove them both so much. I just want to participate. But, voting. Eeek. That's going to be hard to do.

This week is the only time I could remember a member cursing another out. ( Even if it was in abbreviated form). Very unusual for this forum , not to mention that thread.

That's what PH is talking about. It happened in the contest this week.

That's going to be hard to do. I've been doing the cover contest for our almost two years here and a few times before that at our old home, and I've never won (few second-place finishes, but never the trophy). Every week, however, I see the topic, give it my best, and enjoy seeing what other people come up with for their entries, and sometimes I'm inspired to go pick up a new book because it looks cool. As I tell my older daughter about her swimming: it isn't about the results, it's about the effort. Come join us; we won't cuss you out, unless your cover entry is really bad

Don't vote if you don't want to, but really, you can pick your favorite or pick the one you think best fits the criteria or pick on submitted by someone who hasn't won in a while, whatevah! It's all in fun.

Thank you The Captain and Prince Hal! I just cannot decide on a cover. I have in my head which one I want to enter, and I NEED to enter because this week's topic is MY thing, totally, since I have been reading romance comics for a little bit, even though I know it doesn't have to be a romance cover, for me, it has to be what I enter.

I'm impressed with how many good covers there are this week, in a contest I initially thought wouldn't provide a very large pool of candidates. But I forgot about all the great artists who worked on romance comics at one point or another in their careers.

If you vote for my Crying Freeman cover, I promise you a topic for next week's contest that will boogle your brain and have milk cascade through your nose
There, I campaigned it

I just want a few votes. I don't want to win. Because then I have to pick next week's theme, and I just don't want to be responsible for that, you know?

Because if I have to pick what next week's theme, well, you know how I am.
