Actually, I just remembered that we watched Anastasia (1997) the other night as a family. Not a Disney film, but done in the Disney style. Can I count it? No. But I think it's a great film. But not a Disney film.

We worked some Tarkovsky into a few of the early film assignments. I'm not that much into Tarkovsky myself, even if I appreciate the quality. But there's dozens and dozens of other great russian/eastern bloc SF movies, and so many of them are available on torrent, and much moore real SF might I add, not action flicks with a futuristic set up. Whether we get to it or not, I have been actively compiling a list of "best sci/fi" films and have a watchlist currently about 322 films. Definitely looking for things to add to the list. Anything that has a chance of making my top 300, I would want to add to my watchlist. Foreign films in general are definitely a place where I have gaps.

I'll go with something broad and populist...
Favorite Film Franchises
From Bond, to Star Wars and beyond; if it spawned sequels it counts!

Dose that mean you pick one franchise and watch several movies from it... or different movies from different franchises?

Hmmm... Don't plan to watch any movie franchises in the next few weeks, so I'm out for this month as well.

I never gave the Alien movies a fair chance, and I see that the library downtown has the 'Alien Quadrilogy' on DVD, so I'm gonna cycle down over there tomorrow and borrow it. And maybe watch 'Prometheus' as well somewhere along the line. Feel free to join me, I don't see a rule in the OP about calling dibs. I'll update this post as I'll go along. Films watched: Alien Aliens Alien 3 Alien: Resurrection Prometheus

I purchased a pack of the first 4 Alien films on Blu-Ray over a year ago. Maybe it's time to finally open that.

Hell yeah, they are a lot of fun and are definitely up there in my list of all time favorite horror movies. The first two are the best, the third is decent and I used to dislike the fourth but I saw it not too long ago and it had definitely grown on me. It still wasn't as good as the first two but I had fun watching it.

I purchased a pack of the first 4 Alien films on Blu-Ray over a year ago. Maybe it's time to finally open that. When I was real young and didn't know any better I used to hate Alien. I found it extremely boring. Back then I loved Aliens because of all the action. Now after having matured as it were I love the 1st movie the best. More of a sci-fi feel to it. 2nd film is good too but is more of an action movie. Alien 3 is decent. Haven't seen it in many years but I have the blu-ray so hopefully one day soon I will watch it. I've only seen Alien Resurrection only once when it was first released. I remember not hating it...that's all I remember.

I watched the Wrath of Khan and the Voyage Home today as they're my two favorite Star Trek movies. They're very different films but they represent two of the most diverse faces that Star Trek can present; humor and serious ethical debate.
