Because I like you, I'd suggest stopping with the Giffen era. After that it got pretty bad, pretty fast. If you limit it to the Giffen issues, you should at least enjoy most of it.
Going with the "Giffen JL" title seems like a good solution.
Glad to know I am liked  Considering this further, if the events of the non-Giffen issues generally aren't referenced later on, I could probably justify keeping the title of this thread and skipping those issues. It's a rare situation when one creative team defines a series, takes off for a long stretch, comes back, and defines it again. In such a circumstance, maybe what happened in between "doesn't count". So did anything particularly important happen after Giffen? Well, Ice died (but she later got better). And Superman died (but later got better). And Booster Gold had a very bad time...oh, and Starbreaker came back... |

I have the issues after it, but I'll be damned if I remember anything about them. I know towards the end of the run, Wonder Woman was in charge and it was 'come join, whoever you are'... and Nuklon and Obsidian were around for a bit. Right after Zero Hour is when the team exploded.. there was the Wonder Woman league, which I THINK was official... then there was Justice League Task Force, which was pretty much 'J'onn Jonzz and his amazing friends' for the first 20 issues or so, then focuses on Triumph after that...the only real connection besides J'onn is the L-Ron/Despero saga... you'll get to L-Ron soon. I THINK Extreme Justice might be a little relevant.. that was the Captain Atom lead team.. and may have have Booster and Beetle in it for a while. After that, of course, you have the Morrison big 7 re-boot, which would totally be a different thread  |

Even though I came to admire the work of some of the replacements like Ty Templeton on other books, I mostly lost interest in this book when Maguire left and had stopped buying it really right around the time JLE #1 was released (Sears art did nothing for me). The few times I checked in on it after that never interested me enough to buy a second issue after that look in. I picked up a few around the death of Superman because I was so caught up in the Supes books at the time, but thought they were mostly pretty dire and didn't stay on long them either.
I have a feeling the longer you go into this title/thread, the more it will feel like a slog Shax.

It's been awhile since I read the series (for the same reason I stopped trying to play golf: I get enough abuse in the rest of my life), but as I recall they were only barely recognizable as the characters from TV. If you feel like you need more Wonder Twins in your life, you're better off with Super Friends episodes. |

It's been awhile since I read the series (for the same reason I stopped trying to play golf: I get enough abuse in the rest of my life), but as I recall they were only barely recognizable as the characters from TV. If you feel like you need more Wonder Twins in your life, you're better off with Super Friends episodes. Or, indeed, the Super Friends comic. But I still have a soft spot for those books. |
