These look great: It's probably my favorite show ever, and 3.75" is my favorite action figure scale ever, but I can't for the life of me imagine why I'd ever want these guys as action figures.

Some people just want totems of the things they like. It's at the heart of the popularity of things like Funko Pops. They don't need to be functional or "pretty" they just need to represent something you like and connect with, i.e. a totem.
It's also why a lot of "modern collectors" aren't completists. They don't need all of something, just something that represents it. I'm a fan of Silver Surfer, I don't need every Silver Surfer comic, just one key form the rn to represent my fandom of Surfer. Or one Funko Pop. Or one action figure.
A fan of Parks and Rec might by one of a bunch of these to represent their fandom, not for their value or playability as a toy.
It's a different approach for sure, but one I can sympathize with. There are some things I have as totems of experiences (souvenirs for instance) that serve to represent my fondness and memories of the event/place/etc. for instance.

If I really wanted more, I might get the boardgame. But an action figure is just so not something I would ever equate with a show like this. If someone else does, that's fine. I'm just surprised Super7 believes there is enough of an audience to support this.

Both valid points, but I probably side with shaxper (not that anything mrp has posted is wrong or disagreeable).
It’s like I’d have no desire to own action figures for Law and Order. Or Top Gun. They look great, but figures for Parks & Recreation is not something I’d have lobbied for.
EDIT: Oh, get lost, autocorrect. It is shaxper. I know what I’m typing, ya presumptuous fool.

Maybe if they'd made a Jerry figure? Like, having Jerry pilot an X-Wing and save the Republic or crash a Justice League meeting might be worth the purchase price. 😅

If you weren't someone immersed in nerd culture, and were walking through the electronics section of Target, were a fan of Parks & Rec and saw the $10 action figure on a peg in their collectibles section it would be the perfect impulse totem purchase to put up in your cubicle/office/desk/what have you to represent the sow and make for a conversation piece with coworkers. And that's a market Super7 targets with some of their license choices. A lot sells to the nerd culture customer base, but they get shelf space in mass market retailers with non-nerd culture licenses the retailers are familiar with and aware of the popularity. That shelf space translates to revenue from the buyers of those retailers that is non-returnable and more than they likely get in total sales for nerd culture licenses in the Diamond/direct market pool. -M

Last time I saw them at retail (and its been years because our Target never has anything but empty pegs and Funko Pops in that section now) it was $10, so I am admittedly out of touch, but anything $20 and under is considered an impulse purchase item at retail now. -M

Steep investment for an impulse purchase IMO. There are so many ReAction figures I've wanted and passed on because of the price.

I still have a Shakespeare (in)action figure a student gave me years ago. Also an RBG figure, complete with gavel to knock some sense into my ACB figure... if I had one.

Three years ago I would have agreed that $30 is steep for an impulse purchase, in the new reality of the post-Covid markets where everything is more expensive than it used to be, I've had to adjust my perceptions of what is a reasonable asking price for an impulse purchase. I make far fewer of them because I have less money and things are more expensive all around, but that doesn't mean the asking price on things like this is unreasonable given market realities. MSRP on things like Megos and the Marvel Retro 3.75 have gone up as well. I've stopped getting Megos because of it, but am still getting the Marvel Retro when I find them in the wild, but I am not committing to them in preorders because of the price and my budget now -M

That's my line in the sand. I did pick up three Saturday. I had to take some stuff up to my son in college that wouldn't fit into his car (including his bed) and ended up at a Walmart to get some things and, primarily, to try to get his glasses fixed. I try to avoid Walmart like the plague and enter one maybe 3-4 times a year when I can't avoid it. I went over to where they should have had their Megos and found three all discounted quite a bit. I picked up the newest Invisible Man with the bandages for $11 and some change, the Mole People for just shy of $9, and the Young Frankenstein two-pack for $24.99. I have to see if I can get the stickers off the boxes, though I'm not that concerned about box condition anyway.

They're much better educated than American juries.
