I appreciate the interaction in the thread but the thread can be put to rest.

I think you misunderstood me, the single person I was talking about is the reader, not the character. I know the word headcanon has entered the language, but the word canon always had a semi-official meaning to me Oh, sorry. Yes, I misunderstood. I'm not familar with "headcanon" though. To me, fictional canon is "official stuff" that isn't alternate reality stories. Or something. :$. Headcanon is a term which basically means canon to an individual person. It is for instance used by persons to accept fan theories as part of canon to them personally.

LOL...so, it's the opposite to "actual canon" then.

I tried to read "The Amazing Spider-Man" #1 yesterday and found it UNREADABLE! UGH!! Maybe it was just me, but I just couldn't get through the entire issue. I do not care for the new direction & the Parker Industries and the involvement with SHIELD, etc. Perhaps I am just old school, but this is NOT MY SPIDER-MAN! It's Dan Slott canon Ok, I actually went back & finished the entire ASM#1 issue (and it was a chore!!). I seriously cannot recall ever reading a book so bad it made me want to quit comics forever!! It is official, Peter Parker as Spider-Man is DEAD (to me anyway)!! Did I mention that the covers are very awesome?? And that is about all that is awesome as far as I am concerned. Why is it that writers these days have to think these old characters have to evolve to the point they are unrecognizable from what made them popular to begin with? Hey, these characters basically do not age in the comics universe timeline, why the heck is Peter Parker so adult and business responsible now? Well, guess I will go re-read some of the classic ASM and pretend this post secret wars crap is just a VERY bad dream!!

Just interested bry914, but were you regularly reading Amazing Spider-Man before this restart? Or have you begun to pick the title up again after a hiatus because it's starting at #1 again? I haven't read issue #1 or #2 yet, but the basic set up doesn't seem all that different from how it was prior to Secret Wars...except that Parker Industries have gone global now. I'm quite interested to read it now, given your reaction to it.

Either way, just not into this newer direction for Spidey. It's also true I have not been reading any of the mainstream Marvel titles for several years either, but just read the new Iron-Man & Uncanny Avengers and did not have a negative reaction, in fact I quite liked them.
