Barbara Hale who played Della Street on Perry Mason passed away at 94... RIP. I watched hours and hours of the both the old and the new (well new at the time) Perry Mason with my grandmother. Barbara Hale definitely informed how I pictured the character when I read the novels years later.

We just lost Mary Tyler Moore.... Now we lost actor Mike Connors who played Mannix, and just now actress Barbara Hale just died. She was Perry Mason's Della Street and the mother of William Katt. Why does it always comes in threes?

BTW If anyones interested this Sunday, Hallmark's Movies & Mysteries Channel will be doing a marathon of the Perry Mason Movies. Not because of Hales death cause it was listed before her death was reported, but it does seem fitting right now. Anyway check your local lists and set your DVR's.

R.I.P. John Hurt. Dead at 77 from cancer. Winston Smith leaves us as 1984 seems to be unfolding. He was amazing in The Elephant Man, Alien and Midnight Express.

Why does it always comes in threes? It does not. 155,000 people die each day But I was referring more to celebrities dying in 3's. That was the old belief. Anyway it seems that cycle is finally broken now that John Hurt just died. Then again...... Mike Connors, Barbara Hale, & John Hurt seem to have died or at least their deaths have been reported one the same day, so maybe the cycle of 3 celebrities still exists.

R.I.P. John Hurt. Dead at 77 from cancer. Actualy, no cause of death has yet been confirmed. Sir John's cancer was reported as being in remission, but he'd had other health issues since.

John Hurt was a great actor who will be remembered for many many class performaces over decades in the business... For me, he was one of The Doctors - most recently in the Big Finish 'War Doctor' sets of audio stories - but now it's Doctor No More... so thanks for the memories, and rest in peace Sir John Hurt.

Dan Spiegle-a long and full life, entertaining generations with his artwork. I found that he continued to improve substantially as the years went on. Loved his work in 1970's with Warren magazines and the 1980's with Eclipse Comics. I'm sure Mark Evanier, his writing partner for many projects, will have lots to say about him in his blog. R.I.P. Dan

I just read that book a couple months ago. It really was amazing the breadth of work that Spiegle did. I really loved his "Tales of Gotham" back-up that ran sporadically in the Batman books in the 80s. And, of course, his Blackhawk.
