He wrote a column for the Village Voice for over 50 years and is also known for his writing regarding jazz Arguably the greatest jazz writer of all time. I primarily know him for his liner notes for jazz LPs by the likes of Miles Davis, Gil Scott-Heron, and Grant Green, along with his wonderfully romantic -- but largely inaccurate -- liner notes for Bob Dylan's The Freewheelin' Bob Dylan album.

Clare Hollingworth, the journalist who first broke the news that Germany was starting WWII. Only a History Bluff should know that, she was very astute and did her job in the most professional and accurate as possible. I admire her reporting for the Daily Telegraph. I met her in 1994 while traveling with my folks in Europe for the 50th Anniversary of D-Day and she was a very fascinating and full of information of the happenings of World War Two.

The Ringling Bros. Circus will pass away this May. Declining attendance, rising costs, animal-rights lawsuits and other factors are the cause of death for this 146 year old icon

So sad to see this Icon of Entertainment gone for good after this May. Like robsuperfriend63 - I've met Dick Gautier once and he is one of the nicest fellow that I ever met in Entertainment.
