RIP Brian Lumley (1937-2024), prolific British author of Cthulhu mythos tales as well as the long-running NECROSCOPE series. -M He will be missed.
Sill, he had a good inning.

Lumley and Ramsey Campbell were probably the two most important British contributors to the Cthulhu Mythos.

For those real old-timers here, Jeff Stromberg, who posted as Gozer at CBR, passed away from bowel cancer last night. R.I.P.

Tony Award-winning actress Chita Rivera has passed away, at 91. Long list of credits, on Broadway, a few film appearances and some tv. Singer, dancer, actress.....legend.

R.I.P. to American actress, singer and dancer Chita Rivera, who has passed away aged 91. In a Broadway career that spanned more than 70 years, she originated the roles of Anita in West Side Story, Velma Kelly in Chicago, and the title character in Kiss of the Spider-Woman. Over the course of her career she was nominated for a Tony award 10 times, and won twice: for The Rink in 1984, and Kiss of the Spider-Woman in1993. Additionally, she was awarded a special Tony for lifetime achievement in 2018, was the first Latino American to receive a Kennedy Center Honor (in 2002), and was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 2009.

R. I. P. Carl Weathers. You had to love Apollo Creed. And I thought he was a damn hoot in Arrested Development. "Now you take this home, throw it in a pot, add some broth, a potato. Baby, you’ve got a stew going."

He'll alway be Apollo Creed to me. A very charismatic actor. Shame to hear he's passed.

I'm sorry to say that I can't recall Gozer (edit: I mean his peronality, the kind of things he liked to talk about, etc), though the name sounds familiar, so I'm guessing I didn't interact much either. The CBR memories are becoming hazier with every passing day.
