Rest in Power, Michael K. Williams. I’m a huge fan of Williams’ work. He elevated everything he was in. As Chalkie White in Boardwalk Empire, Leonard Pine in Hap and Leonard (I miss that show so much), and particularly as Omar in The Wire. Omar was absolutely the most intriguing character in one of the great shows of our time.

I just read in the paper that singer Sarah Harding from the group Girls Aloud died from breast cancer on Sunday morning. She was 39. Far too young.

RIP to French New Wave actor Jean-Paul Belmondo. One of the biggest stars in French cinema, he is known for such films as Breatless, The Man From Rio, The Finger Man, Two Women, Is Paris Burning? and Chocolat, among many, many others.

And f-ing cancer strikes again: just saw the news that comedian Norm MacDonald has died at the age of 61. He was probably best known as a cast member on Saturday Night Live (personally, I loved his impression of Burt Reynolds in those 'Celebrity Jeopardy' skits).
Edited to add: someone on a Discord group I belong to just reminded me of this, one of the funniest things he probably ever said (although not funny in that laugh-out-loud way):

Goddamit, not Norm. He deserved so much more - a longer stint on SNL, a more successful career, and now definitely a longer life.
The man was a pioneer of making not being funny funny.

I can't say I was a fan, as I had mostly stopped watching SNL before his time on there. I caught bits and pieces and he was one of the brighter things about that era, for me. 61 is too young, these days and to fight cancer that long is something I wouldn't wish on anyone, who wasn't a mass murder or the like.

Just saw the news that prolific English comedic actor John Challis has died at the age of 79. He's probably less known to those of you in North America, but he's appeared in many, many British television productions, and is best known for playing the pompous used car dealer Boycie in the popular sitcom Only Fools and Horses (in which he was often a foil for barbs from the main character, Del Boy - played by David Jason). ...and yeah, it was f-ing cancer.

I only caught a little of Only Fools and Horses (It played a few PBS stations), but recall him from an episode of the New Avengers and from the Tom Baker Dr Wo serial, "The Seeds of Doom." Noticed on the Guardian page that I had totally missed the announcement about comedian/impressionist/actor John Sessions passing away, back in November. Sessions was a featured performer on the original Whose Line Is It Anyway? and had several appearances on QI

Maybe I missed a posting about this back in July of this year, but Biz Markie, rapper from the 80's-90's died. I still listen to some of his songs which were funny and not nasty to women.

Nice tribute for John Challis, that shows a bit of him in action, from Only Fools and Horses....
Like I said, I only saw a few episodes of it, but knew the cast from other things. Saw Nicholas Lyndhurst in The Piglet Files and David Jason (aka Del Boy, in the series) was also Inspector Frost, from the detective series A Touch of Frost, but is forever enshrined in my heart as Danger Mouse, the World's Greatest Secret Agent.
That laugh is like a machine gun!
