Just seen this, ish, and I'm sorry to say that you're incorrect. Keith Emerson was never in The Nazz. They were an American band that featured Todd Rundgren (is that who you were thinking of?). Emerson was in the British band The Nice, who had a big hit with a psychedlic instrumental version of Leonard Bernstein's song "America" from West Side Story. "Open Your Eyes" by The Nazz is a fantastic record though! D'oh. The Nazz, The Nice...I feel so silly Don't worry - it's easily done. Actually, The Nice got their name from someone (a fan, a manager...can't exactly remember offhand) who used to refer to them as "the naz". The band apparently misheard this and thought that whoever it was was saying "the nice". That's why they adopted that name. So you were sort of on the right track.

Watching and listening to that Nice performance of America reminds me that Emerson once said he was trying to emulate on the keyboard what Jimi Hendrix had done on the electric guitar. I was a big ELP fan growing up but never had the opportunity to listen to much of the Nice.

Re Johan Cruyff, there was a really nice tribute to him in the Guardian , and stuff like this make me love the guy even though, even though as a very casual soccer fan I don't know much about him: “When there are doubts, people tend to seek safety in numbers, to go with the herd,” Begiristain, the former Barcelona winger, says. “Not Cruyff. His first solution was always to be more attacking, more expansive. Three at the back and the centre-back is Ronald Koeman? Instead of full-backs, midfielders? Every time he sought a solution, he attacked more. And when he told us what he was doing, we thought: ‘Is he mad or what?’” That's exactly what I like to see on the pitch as a soccer fan - and on the rugby pitch as a rugby fan and on the ice as a hockey fan, etc.

In tribute of Cruijff (there are a lot of vidoes but this one was made a few years ago, so it's not one of the recent "he-died-so-we-must-make-a-highlight-collection-right-now!!"

Wow. Patty Duke gone.
Her TV dad, William Schallert, is still with us.

R.I.P. Patty. I watched your show and enjoyed it in my young days. And you turned out to be quite an accomplished actress later on in life as well

I didn't know till I watched a PBS program on the quiz show scandals (aired around the same time the movie Quiz Show came out, as I recall) that she'd been involved in that as a child. Probably her first exposure to the spotlight; I believe The Miracle Worker came a bit later.

Unbelievable to learn that Patty Duke died and she was only 69 years old and I was shocked to learn that today. I remember watching her show on reruns in the late 60's.

Apparently so. He was funny as hell and one of the most infuriating people I've ever 'met', and we're not gonna be the same without him.

False alarm, everyone! Turns out Fly's not dead after all - it was all just a wacky misunderstanding!

Veteran British actor Gareth Thomas, who starred as Roj Blake in cut 70s sci-fi series Blake's 7, has died aged 71. A very underrated actor.
