I much prefer the newer structure with fewer subforums. Thanks for doing this.

As a happy update to the site structuring, I'm very pleased to announce that hondobrode has agreed to step up and become our fifth global moderator in order to fill the void left by Dr. Poison. Not only has hondo been an invaluable member of this community since its beginning; he also served as section moderator to the Hall of Justice, helping to bridge the gap between our two communities, and also played a major role in the development of the HOJ's former sister section, Beyond the Big Two.
We're very happy to have you aboard, Hondo!

I was wondering if we need a Comics-related movies, TV series and videogames board distinct from non comics-related movies, TV series and videogames threads.
Right now we have movies discussed there but also in the Community section, where two ongoing threads cover classic movies and new & upcoming movies (but, leading to some difficult placement decisions sometimes, no thread on movies that are neither classic nor new).
Do you think it would be more logical to have all our media threads on the same board? It's not that I particularly mind the current structure, but it has me puzzled.

One idea I've toyed with is moving much of the Beyond the Back Issues categories into a more general Other Media Discussion, with a section for books, a section for movies/TV, maybe one for video games and one for music. It would solve the issue you're discussing and encourage a lot more general discussion, but the risk is that it might undermine the comic book focus of this community. Thoughts?

I don't like the idea of putting all of the media discussions into their own area. That would create a place of distinct interest that may attract folks who would not engage with the comics-focused portion of the community, yet their posts and opinions would be credited to the community as a whole, which could have a detrimental effect on the overall tenor of the site.
I guess it boils down to whether new members who come here solely for those types of threads can be respectful of the current community as well as mindful of the rules of engagement that have been established over the past three and a half years. Seeing how some other pop culture-focused forums behave, I highly doubt it, although I would love to be wrong.

That's constant work with every influx of new members the site receives. The larger concern for me is the site losing its comics-first focus. If we start bringing in respectful, rule-abiding members who want to talk books, film, or music, but have no interest in comics, the basis of the site begins to shift. I'm not necessarily opposed to such a thing, but it's worth discussing and considering carefully before proceeding.

I'm not necessarily opposed to such a thing, but it's worth discussing and considering carefully before proceeding. And that was my main concern as well, to be certain. Those threads exist so folks who are already here to talk comics have an avenue for discussing those topics as well, not to attract folks who want to talk about those topics solely.
