Roy's still looking for Adams war stories:
STAR SPANGLED WAR STORIES #134 Wondering if someone has a hi-res scan of the splash page of the Neal Adams-drawn story "The Killing Ground" from the above issue. If so, please send it to me off-list. The first person to send me a scan I can use will, of course, receive a gratis copy of ALTER EGO #181. Of course, maybe it's not quite "gratis," because you'll have paid for it by sending the scan, right? Thanks for listening, Roy
Rob, does Roy know that said page is in the Fireside anthology, "America at War"? Don't know if that would work for him as well as the actual comic page.

He generally prefers scans of the original comics, but it couldn't hurt to let him know that the page is there. I'll send him a note. Thanks, Prince Hal!

I know I own most of these but they're not easily accessible. Surely someone else here has these:
Hope somebody can send me reasonably hi-res scans of the following, mostly for the letters section of AE #182, dealing with #173... want to illustrate a few things missed in the articles in that issue:
NIGHT NURSE #1 (Nov. 1972), p. 15
AMAZING ADVENTURES #31 (July 1975) - interracial kiss
KORAK, SON OF TARZAN #54 (Nov. 1973) - interracial kiss
GIRLS' LOVE STORIES #163 (Nov. 1971) - good page from story "Black + White = Heartbreak" with interracial theme
TALES OF SUSPENSE #61 (Jan. 1965) - p. 5 of Captain America story
Also, the Mr. Bones pin-up from the final interior page of INFINITY, INC. #15 (1985) - this is actually for an upcoming podcast I'm doing for "Steve...and Cimino Says BOOM."
Thanks for listening,
Roy

As I prepare a very special issue of ALTER EGO (#183) on the life and art of Irv Novick, I find myself lacking "Haunted Tank" stories, both splashes and maybe a couple of good pages with Jeb Stuart... starting with G.I. COMBAT #89, which seems to be the first "Haunted Tank" story Novick illustrated. Anybody have any good hi-res scans of some of that stuff? Don't need covers, unless Novick did them... and I don't think he did many if any of those.
Thanks for listening,
Roy

re: The Joker - Bronze Age Omnibus
Wondering if anyone happens to have a page or 2 hi-res from the story in the above book that was actually done for THE JOKER #10 in the 70s but not published till the OMNIBUS.
Thanks,

Still looking for the splash page of the JOKER #10 comic from the 1970s that wasn't published until the JOKER OMNIBUS volume. Or maybe nobody in this group has to buy omnibuses because they've already got all the comics for the past 50 years?
Thanks for listening.

Any DC war comics fans here?
Hi Folks--
I could use higher-res scans than I current have for the following Irv Novick pieces in ALTER EGO #183:
ALL-AMERICAN MEN OF WAR #127 ("Unknown Marine" splash)
OUR FIGHTING FORCES #99 - Capt. Hunter splash
G.I. COMBAT #89, p. 2 of Novick-drawn story.
Thanks for listening,
roy

I know a lot of people will have what Roy's looking for here.
Would this thread get more responses in the Classic Comics forum instead of Community?
ALTER EGO #184 will present a long-awaited Tom Palmer interview conducted by Alex Grand and Jim Thompson. I'm about to start work adding art to it, and could use both DC and Marvel interior pages, both from his 1960s-1970s work and from his later return to AVENGERS, etc. He also did one short Charlton story before his late-60s Marvel work, if anyone can find that... I'd appreciate it!
Thanks,
Roy
The Charlton story is in Jungle Jim #22.

Anyone have any Novelty comics?
Hi Folks--
Some of you ask me, from time to time, if there's some general material you can help supply ALTER EGO, and I really appreciate that. And ALTER EGO #185 is going to be an issue where I wouldn't at all mind having a lot of material that you judge to be worth printing come in in advance. The spotlight of the issue will be Mark Carlson-Ghost's long article on Novelty Comics (from Curtis--which weirdly is the company that wound up distributing Marvel by the late 60s), dealing with BLUE BOLT, TARGET COMICS, et al. Artwork and artifacts welcome... and of course anything used will garner the sender a copy of AE #185.
Thanks for listening,
Roy

Maybe our resident jungle comics expert MWGallaher has something for Roy...
Hi Folks-- Wondering if someone has a really hi-res scan of the cover of either JUNGLE COMICS #1 by Lou Fine or #5 by Will Eisner, for an upcoming ALTER EGO. Would appreciate good scans of these for cover purposes. Mitch Maglio, who has written extensively of Fiction House for a couple of books, has done an article on jungle comics (lower case), and I think one of those two covers should front it, but of course it has to be a better res than I'll find in GCD or Comic Book Plus, good as both those sites are. Thanks for listening, Roy

Can't help with it, but I'll be interested in seeing Mitch's article! Me too! Any other covers you'd suggest if he can't find one of the two he wants?

Another call for help from Roy:
Prepping an issue of ALTER EGO (#186) to celebrate artist Angelo Torres at 91, and would like to get a bit more super-hero material by him, since he did so little.
I have the cover of the SUPERGIRL promotional comic he drew (I think he may have both penciled and inked) for Honda, perhaps in the 1980s. Does anyone have any more info or perhaps interior pages from this comic?
Also, he may have just been inking Curt Swan or someone on a SUPERMAN comic done in 1988 for the Bradman Commission--I think it may have had some sort of government connection--and again, I could use more info and key interior pages, if possible.
In addition,I've heard that he had some work reproduced in the "CELEBRATE THE CENTURY" super-hero stamp album produced a couple of decades back.
I could use use more art from his romance or war or adventure stories done for Timely/Atlas in the 1950s... have the splash of one,but that's about it... other color-comics work besides EC.
Thanks for listening,
Roy

Roy is still looking for Angelo Torres work:
While I'm still trying to track down scans of "An Eye for an Eye" from the 1971 volume HORROR COMICS OF THE 1950's, I wanted to put out one last request for Angelo Torres-drawn stories.
He drew or at least inked a number of Westerns for Charlton (BILLY THE KID, WILD BILL HICKOCK, WYATT EARP, etc.)... apparently inked one FLY story for Archie... did some work for SICK and even BLACK MAGIC in 1960... did a bit of work for Harvey on ALARMING ADVENTURES/TALES, RACE FOR THE MOON, etc.), and for the non-EC PANIC... and even in '93 for Topps' version of "A Sound of Thunder" in RAY BRADBURY COMICS. Can anyone help out with good scans of any of this? Naturally, a copy of AE #186 will be sent to anyone whose scans are used.
Thanks for listening,
Roy

Time to work on the next issue of AE:
Hi Folks--
Thought I'd start out uncharacteristically early in my quest for scans for the main feature in ALTER EGO #187... namely, writer Edmond Hamilton, who wrote pulps (esp. SF) and of course comics (particularly for DC) back in the Golden and Silver Ages. I have nearly as many photos as I can use of Hamilton himself, but not much yet in the way of hi-res art, especially splash pages and good action or dramatic pages (since Hamilton didn't technically WRITE much in the way of covers, there'll be fewer of those than usual this time around). If some of you have access to scans of Hamilton's work, including even a bit of his pulp output (for context), I'd really appreciate your sending it. Naturally, as per usual, anyone who sends some material used in AE #187 will receive a free copy of the issue when it comes out. If you have any questions you need to ask before going to all that work, please drop me a line and I'll answer you as I can, in between current work finishing up AE #186.
Thanks for listening,
Roy
