How you came up with your own USERNAME?MechaGodzillaI chose MechaGodzilla because when I was home alone back in 1977 and it's was a rainy Spring Day and I've just finished taking care of the yard for my parents and they were gone for the weekend. Being a Science Fiction fan back in the 70's and I just noticed that my local television station is playing GODZILLA verses MECHAGODZILLA a 1974 TOHO Film that caught my fancy. I was hooked on the dazzling array of weaponery on MechaGodzilla that appears to be endless and the Special Effects that Toho Studios did was beyond belief. I've spent a good 20-30 hours searching the internet for an AVATAR that can be used for this forum. I found one animated gif that can be used for it's purpose so I used a gif editing tool to modify a 500 pixels by 232 and I've managed it to get down to 150 pixels by 107 by using another gif editing tool to crop, enhance, and make it my own. By the way, that AVATAR is permanent. MechaGodzilla is my favorite TOHO Studio Monster and one of the most iconic monsters of all time. According to the internet he's stands at 50 Meters (ironically that's the same distance of the swimming pool that I go to on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays) Tall of which translates to 164 feet. He weighs 40,000 Metric Tons and fly up to speeds up to Mach 5. He loaded with awesome weaponery and my favorite of them of the all is his Space Beams that comes out of his eyes and that's the beauty and the power of this monster possess. He is known as The Cosmic Monster and/or Bionic Monster. I prefer Cosmic over Bionic because he hailed from Planet X from the aliens that calls themselves the Simians. Anyway, I'm curious of how some of you came up with your own USERNAME?

When I first joined CBR, I posted under my real name until, after a few months, I decided to get into the spirit of the place and adopt a handle. I couldn't decided on one, though, so I held a contest with my duplicate copy of Strange Tales #119 as the prize. I stipulated that it had to be short, easy to type, and somehow reflect my passion for Golden Age DC. A poster named Pocketwatch won and his entry has been my user name since.
Cei-U! I summon the origin story!

Just love Shakespeare and used the first character name that popped into my mind. (I may have been reading Henry IV at the time, but I can't remember.)

A friend and I misheard a bit of stage banter on a crappy cassette copy of Ozzy Osbourne's crappier live album, Speak of the Devil. Ozz was reminiscing about his early days in Black Sabbath. What we heard was, "We'd like to do a number now that I haven't done since 1971, with good old Phil Maurice! Does anybody remember ol' Phil Maurice? We used to get sh*t-faced every night! A few groupies, huh?"
Embarrassingly, for years (!) we asked every hippy-ish looking baby boomer we encountered whether they had ever heard of this mysterious Phil Maurice. Was he a session player? A dealer? A pimp? A guru? No answers were forthcoming.
The double face-palm when it finally dawned on my friend and me that Ozzy was talking about The Filmore East, rock promoter Bill Graham's legendary Manhattan venue, was so epic it left imprints.

"Pharo" was my username for pretty much everything since I was a little kid. I started using it because I couldn't spell the word "pharaoh" when I was younger and the handle just kind of stuck after that. I added the "-zonk" part when I joined CBR back in 2013 and felt Pharo was too short. "Zonk" just had a cool sound to it so I combined the two and here we are now.

That's such a jazzy origin that the soil on John Coltrane's grave just shifted a little bit.

Mines pretty easy to figure out. Adam Warlock since reading Starlin's masterpiece of the character has always been my favorite. And my second favorite Marvel output the 2099 Universe. In fact it's the only handle I've used on the internet except one. Back in 97-98 using a friend's computer in AOL chat rooms and when I bought a WebTV in 99 I went by ThanosIBe, since he's my favorite villain. About the only deviation in this user name of all the times I've used it is the lack of the underscores, if they aren't allowed on a website. I can't imagine going by any other name.

And here I thought it might be an obscure Namor reference. (Who which by the way am really enjoying's role in Earth X.) I'm not Ozzy fan but I Just Want You and God Is Dead are amazing.

I decided to use my real name because I had no need for anonymity, and with more than 8,000 people in the US sharing my name, I've actually got a fair amount of anonymity anyway.

In CBR and several other forums my username pays homage to a favorite character. I didn't want to do that this time, so I adopted a phrase I've used in my signature: "The Bee--with honey and stinger." (Bee for Beverly)

Though I had two internet aliases prior to attending college in 1997, that was when the internet really seemed to be coming alive, and thus that was when I started registering an increased amount of online accounts, so it just made sense to keep using the same handle across all of them. It began with a hotmail account. I decided to use the name shaxper because, like prince hal, I love me some bard, and (to be completely honest) I stole "shaxper" from my professor and mentor's vanity license plate. It's an old spelling of his family name that I just really really liked the sound of.
As time went on, it just made sense to keep using the same username for everything, so, nearly twenty years later, I'm shaxper here. Fortunately, I change my passwords a lot more often than I change my online identities.

I started using it when I was posting at CBR. At the time you could just log in with any name at any time. But I mostly settled on it fairly early on. It combined my love of comics and hard-boiled detectives. And this was way before Slam was revived in Catwoman.
