Read Deadpool #6 featuring the first app. of Deadpool 2099. This issue is a pretty quick read, but sets up what I believe is going to be an ongoing arc in the current run. If you're a fan of the 2099 universe, this issue fits right in. It's Deadpool's daughter Warda, and she is real pissed at her dad. So much so that she's got him chained up and forced to watch only C-SPAN. What torture! She is looking for her mother Shiklah and won't let her dad go until he tells her where mom is. Only problem is he can't remember. Meanwhile, a mysterious cloaked vigilante is looking for Warda, while Warda and her Band of "Bobs" wreck havoc on the NYPD. Fun issue with a bit of a shocking end in which I won't spoil here. Really like the design of the character, interested to see how her story plays out.

I haven't gotten to Imperium yet but have greatly enjoyed everything I've read so far : X-O, Harbinger, Archer & Armstrong, Quantum & Woody, Eternal Warrior. I've really liked both Venditti and Dysart's work very much and am astonished how fresh it is. So what do or Valiant fans here think of the news that they are going to revisit the clusterf*ck that was Deathmate a a summer cross-over event this summer? I've liked the bits and pieces of stuff I read of the new Valiant, but things like revisiting Unity killed any interest I had in hoping on stuff for the long term, then I read The Valiant trade and was intrigued and thought about giving it another try, and then I saw the Deathmate announcement. Any time a publisher tries to make reading their books an all or nothing thing, I respond with nothing, and every time I get a little interest in the new Valiant they seem to do something like this that kills it. -M Don't know if you saw this today, but Deathmate is a new Valiant character : a Bloodshot rogue.

I've got hold of around 200 comics from my pull list.
So far I've read Black Magick #1 (nice, beautiful, but so far not really catching my interest as the art doesn't move me and the theme isn't that interesing to me) and Sheriff of babylon #1 (One of the best first issues I've read in quite some time, great structure and decent art).

Sheriff of babylon #1 (One of the best first issues I've read in quite some time, great structure and decent art). Such a great series. I picked up the first issue about the time that #3 came out and then had to almost immediately go back and get the other two. I'm excited to see King on the main Batman book.

Just read the hardcover edition of The Private Eye by Brian K. Vaughan and Marcos Martin... I liked this quite a lot, but whoever decided on that particular format* needs to be punched in an area they'd probably prefer not to be punched in. The book was so difficult to physically handle that I found it actually detracted from the experience of reading the damn thing. * not to mention price - Jeepers Cripes! Like the current exchange rate isn't killing us Aussie fans as it is!

I just finished the Nameless HC this afternoon. The first half of the book, where it actually had something resembling a plot, was so creepily horrific I had to put it down for a while. The second half descends into typical G-Mo obscure weirdness. Maybe it'll make more sense upon a second reading...and reading the extensive annotations...

I read the first 3 issues online for free, but waited for this to read it in full. Well, I think this is the best Vaughn comics ever, and by far. Definitively one of the top comics of the past couple of years.

Had to drop my daughter off at swim practice last night at the high school in the suburb next to ours (our high school is under massive renovation, and they have just gotten to the pool area, so the last two weeks of winter season practices had to move), and since it was a little too far to go home, I went to their local library to kill some time. They have a nice selection of TPBs as well as a good collection of floppies, so I sat and read the first nine issues of the current Amazing Spider-Man series.
It's not a bad book, but with all of the changes to Peter Parker, it's not the Spider-Man I grew up reading (and I didn't start with ASM until the 80's). At this point, it's Iron Man Lite, with all of the gadgets and corporate intrigue but minus the armor. I like the way that Peter is doing good with his company, rather than using it to make tons of money, and giving characters like Bobbi Morse and Hobie Brown roles in the book drew me in, but it felt like I was reading The Adventures of Young Tony Stark rather than the Amazing Spider-Man. Additionally, the ongoing Zodiac/Scorpio arc was not compelling enough to sustain my interest long-term, and the reveal of Scorpio was "meh". While it did help pass the time, I can say I am glad I did not pay money for the issues, as I would have probably dropped the book around issue #4.

Been re-reading IDW's iteration of TMNT, found it to be a bit of a tough slog the first time around due to the sizable number of secondary books that take place in continuity This blog post, however, helped ease me back into it

I knocked over the Warren Ellis Secret Avengers tpb this afternoon. Six done-in-ones in the vein of Global Frequency, but with various Avengers teams led by Steve Rogers (in his 'Commander Rogers' phase), doing covert ops and saving the world and stuff. Highly recommended.

Highly recommended. Seconded. I read these as floppies when they came out and thoroughly enjoyed them. Of them, I think my favorite is the Moon Knight-focused story.

The Convergence Flash and Speed Force two-issue minis.
Flash focused on Pre-Crisis Barry who ends up facing off against Tangent's Superman. Some action, some debate and the finale was decided by the ultimate fate of Barry. Overall, not bad but not too memorable either.
Speed Force on the other hand, very good. Wally and Jai and Iris teaming up with Fastback of the Zoo Crew against Queen Diana of Flashpoint. It highlighted the strengths of Wally West, his unyielding love for his family and what he's willing to face and do to protect not only them but everyone around him as well. It reminded me of how much I loved him as a character, how much I miss him, and how stupid DC was in chunking him and his legacy to side of the road.
