I'm fine with cosplay at conventions. I just get annoyed when I get whacked in the face by some Harley Quinn's giant prop hammer. There are a few characters that should be outright banned from cosplay due to overuse unless you're planning to do them exceptionally well. Harley Quinn, Poison Ivy, and The Joker should top that list. Yeah the ridiculously over sized props and costumes are another annoyance of mine too.

Amanda Conner was at Boston last year and I swear there were a half dozen Harleys in line for her at any given moment all weekend. It is kind of interesting comparing all the different giant hammers they bring.

While I was at SDCC this year, a friend and I tried to count the number of Harley Quinn cosplayers we saw in a day. We lost count after 15.

One of the best we ever saw at a Con was at the last Gen Con I went to (2007-ignore the datestamp on the pic, it's messed up)... someone had made a Manticore costume (the mythic beast not the super-villain)... the level of detail and craftsmanship was just amazing. -M

Man, we saw a costume at Boston this year that was unreal. It was a couple doing characters from Labyrinth, and one of their costumes including a fully functioning puppet version of a third character, complete with audio voice clips from the movie. I don't have any pictures, but it was insane.

Hammers were out this year, and baseball bats were in, as 90% of the Harleys at Boston Comic Con were the movie version instead of the comic book or cartoon versions. Dozens of them, man, dozens. Oddly, though, there were far fewer Deadpools than usual, which is bizarre given how popular the movie was. On the first day of the con, I went as Crimebuster, of course. This is from issues #60-up after he ditched the cape and most of the hockey uniform in favor of more normal clothes. Not pictured, unfortunately, is Squeeks, who I was carrying in my right hand. Sadly I didn't get any pictures with Squeeks in it. Ooops. On day two, I went as Wonder Woman, and my girlfriend went as Thor: And on the final day, I again wore my Wonder Woman costume, while my girlfriend went as Pam from Archer:

I don't really cosplay, but I do have lots of fun at Dragon*con. I'll have to dig up some photos from over the years: Courtney Love, my superhero "the Helping Hand", Ace & Gary (Ambiguosly Gay Duo), and "I Wonder if that's a Woman". . have been hits over the years. but when I'm bored I just toss on my Power Girl "boob window" shirt, and call it an outfit! found a few: (helping hand is TOTALLY not safe for work.. so not posting that)
