My first post here. I got into collecting in the early 90s. I bought multiple copies back then and read one and bagged them. I've been a Marvel Fanboy since I was a little kid.
My comics from back then have been sitting in "fire safes" under a friend's house and I have recently got them all back out to organize; getting ready to ship to my new, larger house. Most of my comics are in beautiful condition, albeit mostly modern books.
I have 5 bags of the 5 different X-Force comics; so 25...4 of the bagged copies are still unopened.
I also have Nightwatch #1 platinum and regular...I guess that didn't come to pass ;-P
I've got 3 copies of Sleepwalker #1 and Spawn #1, #9 and X-Men 1, and obviously too much to list here.
I didn't think of "speculating" back in 1992-3, tho...I thought about playing the long game. Clearly "investing" in comics isn't akin to investing in property (depending upon location), yet I like reading comics a lot more than discussing or working on buildings.

I'm not sure many of those books have gone up in value. It's nice that you hid them away from the sunlight.

Surprisingly, Spawn #1 has somehow gone up a little. Copies routinely sell in the $10-15 range, which is crazy considering there were over 2 million copies sold, making it one of the most common comic books ever to exist. Newsstand editions go for a little more, like $16-20. CGC graded 9.8 copies can set you back $80-100.
Unopened X-Force #1 with the Deadpool card can fetch $5 or more. Which isn't much, but still. The card came out before Deadpool's second appearance, which is in issue #2.

People come and go for sure, but I think the forum itself has been pretty constant as far as format goes.
