Crossovers of multiple titles are a pain to go through when I want to read something. But big ones like Age of Apocalypse, that gets regular reads (either in part or whole) is never filed. It sits on top of the file cabinet. Kraven's Last Hunt is another one, just because I can never remember the issue numbers of each Spiderman title. I think I may have Galactic Storm out, but that may just be not being filed from the last time I read it.
The plus side of most modern events and crossovers is Marvel, at least, seems to title them all the same, and then a sub title. Like Annihilation #1-6 and then you got Annihilation: Silver Surfer #1-4, and all the other mini series that weren't apart of the main mini series. Along with any one shots titled Annihilation:_____. Because this seems to be a format that Marvel sticks with and Marvel's cosmic characters are among my favorite characters, alpha numeric still works the best for me. I don't know if I would remember from one day to the other how I decided to organize something if I did anything else but alpha numeric.

I honestly find it easiest to just sort everything by alphabetical order of the series title.

Found Super-Villain Team-Up #16 in the middle of Iron Man comics. This is why it's worth going through carefully sometimes. A comic misfiled like that is basically lost. I've been inventorying as I'm going and come across several missing comics I should own. Many of which are genuinely lost. But some may just be misfiled.

My books (besides TPB) are in strict alpha numeric order. It's annoying sometimes when I can't remember if it's Hellboy/Batman/Starman or Batman/Hellboy/Starman cross over but that I can usually search on Lone Star's site and see what the published title is. I have probably 60-70% of my collection in a large 6' tall lateral file cabinet. It has five large drawers that I can set two row upright, (it came with dividers that I can set in the middle of the drawer to separate the rows). So one drawer probably holds 400-500 comics with enough space to flip through them when I am looking for something. The rest are in small comic boxes in a few different stacks. I'd love to get a hold of another one of these cabinets, but I really don't have the room even if I found one for a reasonable price. The one I have my father in law scored at an auction for me for $60. Normally these are $300-500 cabinets. But as little as I have bought recently, and as slow as I seem to be getting back into buying, one of these would probably be enough room for many years to come. Especially too, since I have finally gotten into buying a bit more TPB than I use to before. I'll tag along here too in this thread. While I am not really organizing my comics, I do plan to soon catalog all my comics. I recently bought the CLZ app ( www.clz.com/comics/ ) while I can scan the UPC on each comic and then just enter it into my collection. They already have a large database of comics so I don't have to enter title, writer, publisher, etc ... all that will be there already. All I basically have to do is scan 7000+ comics. That's enough time spent on it's own. That's why the $15 price tag will be well worth the time saved as oppose to entering them on a spreadsheet like I did last time. But that CPU is long gone, so I'd have to start from scratch. I am quite curious how this works. I see (http://www.clz.com/comics/android.php) Does that mean I need to buy the software separately? May be an issue as I have neither a Windows nor a Mac.

Finished my first rack of Marvel comics, 20 boxes containing A-J (Abominations-Journey Into Mystery).
Next rack will pick up with Jungle Action. (If you know what I mean.)
But that will be another night. I've accomplished more than enough for this evening.

I am quite curious how this works. I see (http://www.clz.com/comics/android.php) Does that mean I need to buy the software separately? May be an issue as I have neither a Windows nor a Mac. I dunno about the android coke, but I know my much more computer savoy wife told me that to connect with the desktop software, you have to the $19.95 per year for the memory space on cloud. That way you don't have to have the memory on your mobile device, as you are accessing the cloud via you mobile device when you need to. I have plenty of space on my ipod, so I am just going to store it there. I haven't started scanning yet, but my plan is to see if I can back it up on our CPU via itunes, that way it's just not on my ipod. If that were to work though, each time I add something of my collection on my ipod, I would have to back it up again on the CPU. Though from reading what they do say on it, it does seem as though the android application is just a portal to access information from your CPU. However I see they have a bit of information on it. I think once you register a free account and add your collection, you can then access them from your android. www.clz.com/comics/manual-android/2/en/topic/import-from-desktopAnd if I read this correctly, with an android you may not have to pay for cloud access like I would using an ipod. www.clz.com/comics/manual-android/2/en/topic/activating-clz-cloud

It's not the most recent version, but it does indeed require both applications. The Windows program is where you make your updates, then you export it to the mobile app where all you can do is look at the entries. I believe the current version may use the cloud, but it costs a subscription fee annually so I'm not upgrading if I can avoid it.

Alphabetical and Numerical Title(s) and #'s are written on Post-Its and placed on the front of the box. I originally only did this for Insurance purposes. In 2008 I made lists of all the books I had then each year made a new list of the books I accumulated that year and sent that list with pics to the Insurance Company. In 2013(the last year I actually bought anything) I consolidated those lists.

Mine are grouped by character or team rather than alphabetical.
