now I realize, that's still about 67 lbs down from where I started. . but still, it's disappointing. I think that flipping the switch and going from losing into maintenance is (almost?) as hard as losing weight in the first place - there's a definite temptation to feel "I've made it" and ease off whatever restrictions you've introduced to get down to a weight, and it's then hard to find the balance that allows you to keep down to your new weight. I actually maintained for a good 9 weeks.. it was the vacation that killed me. hopefully can get back on losing track!

Finally back in the gym today, and had a pretty good session. Bike home was a bit of a plod as a result, but not too bad and legs not unduly sore (yet). A couple of days ago, I went over 1000 miles cycled so far this year (since I restarted in May) - aiming to hit at least 2000.

In my feeble defense, We had house guests the last 12 days and it interrupted my eating plan. Nothing I can do now except watch my food closer than I have. Overall, I dropped one pound this month. It's a huge disappointment. I weighed in at 210.8 this morning. I was 218.8 a week ago. I have a self imposed deadline of 23 days to get under 200 because we are going to have house guests and I want to be in shape. For the last month I have Been lifting weights twice a week but it wasn't until I cut out refined carbs and added sugar that I lost weight.

I will be starting up my Water Polo League starting this Friday and my weight at 264 now and I expect it to be dropped down to 250 by end of September. They added 14 more matches making this season a 50 matches that will start in Mid-August to Mid-October and playoffs will end by Mid-November.
I was given a new position - Center and I will be wearing a Swim Cap with the Number 6 and my coach wanted to take advantage of my strength in my arms and this will be a new challenge to me and I will be scoring more goals this year.

Dumping the sugar and carbs will make a hell of a difference, because you'll almost inevitably have significantly reduced your calorie input. Even so, dropping nearly 11 pounds in 23 days is a tough ask - by all means aim for it, but don't be discouraged if you lose (say) 5 or 6 - that would still be a really good result.

After yet another family event this last weekend, I'm back into the Plateau of Doom again, at 167.4.
However, cycling still going well, and have regained some enthusiasm for the gym - not least because having visited this afternoon, I find that they have dumped several of the useless weight machines* and replaced them with some more useful ones** and (O, frabjous day!) another power rack, so everyone's not now fighting over the one rack.
(* "useless" = "I don't use it") (** more useful = "I still probably won't use it, but (eg) a hack squat machine is at least potentially useful, whereas the arm machines were a waste of space)

I'm fighting the impulse to go to a buffet with friends today. I know it'll set my goals back. My weigh in days are Monday and Thursday.

Weight is absolutely falling off me this week - no real idea why, can only assume I was retaining water and/or 'full of it' around the weekend, but I'm down to 163.4 this morning, which is my lowest weight since the end of June, and just barely off a new low.

If there's one thing I'm sure of , is that the food is 95% of losing or gaining weight. You must be staying away from foods that bloat the body this week. If you fluctuate 2-3 pounds It's normal.

I just had our first meeting with my Water Polo Team and we are going to have our first practice tomorrow from 2pm to 4pm in the afternoon and resume practice on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays around 7am to 9am and we'll have our matches starting on August 22nd. We are having three matches a week 2 on Mondays and 1 on Thursday. So, on Mondays I won't be online that much that day and might have to rethink my 50 Influential Characters when I get to there.
We are having a 18 week Season with two week of bye and playoff will start in January/February of 2017. So, having said that I will be playing it pretty much from August to February for 8 months and they just added two new teams. 48 matches in 16 weeks.
My new position is Center (Hole Set) and it's considered one of the toughest positions to play and requires great sense of strength and your ability to tread water for a long period of time. Many team members felt last year that I'm a natural at the Center position because of my arm strength and all.
Got 2 New Caps and Swimwear today with my Number 6 on it.

Terrible week at work (covering for 2 co-workers, who thanks to a re-org overnight, I'm no longer co-workers with..and now have no idea who will be covering for me when I'm on vacation in 3 weeks). so up all night, and stressing. .with major stomach stress. I guess the upside is I haven't been eating much this week and so the weigh in today (3 hours later than usual, because so busy), I'm back to where I was before my Tampa trip. 175.6 so I guess that's a bright spot. (but so stressed out, and not happy w/ this re-org, that I think I'm gonna have to start job hunting )

Sorry to hear about the work stress Bert - that's one thing I don't miss since I converted over to being a contractor.

Two things that are indicators I'm going in the right direction are that my clothes feel looser and I have increased energy while I'm working in the street. I've gotten away from the craziness of weighting myself twice a day, every day.

The baggy clothes test is a good one, and a good feeling when it happens. I've discarded all my baggy trousers - I've now come to the point where I'm going to discard all the baggy shirts as well. As much as I loathe buying clothes, I can't keep wearing shirts which now fit me like sacks.
