9/20: 244.8# 9/23: 244.8# 9/27: 246.2# 10/4: 244.4# 10/8: 242.6# 10/14: 241.0# 10/24: 235.2# 10/28: 232.8# 10/31: 231.6# 11/5: 228.8# 11/11: 228.6# 11/15: 225.4# -- total loss thus far ~19.4 lbs. so looks like I got most of the water weight, from sodium, out of my system, and am back on track knocking on the 20 lb mark!

Plus point: first real session at the gym yesterday, so "Phase 2" is underway at long last, albeit with fairly unimpressive weights. Tactic for the next week or two is just to get my muscles used to the idea of training again, after what I recently realised is over 5 years away from the gym. Seems to be working - all the muscles I worked yesterday are sore. Also, brings my cost per visit down to a much more reasonable £526 (~$800), from the previous £∞. I rather hope to get that down a lot further over the coming months.
Minus point: three social events in a week had me on the verge of being thrown out of the 35 pound club again, but I'm back down to 182.8 this morning.

So this was a weird weekend. I inadvertently ate some really really high-salt stuff while off diet that I didn't realize was ultra high salt and really didn't feel good from pretty much Friday night on as a result. Thus, I ended up cheating a lot less than usual on my diet this weekend, eating (dare I say it) sensibly without even meaning to. And yet, the scale today shows me at 235 lbs (+9.5 lbs from Friday!). Clearly, salt and the subsequent water retention is the largest factor in the weight I gain when I go off diet. I have NEVER gained this much over a single weekend before.
Hopefully, all that salt will flush out by Wednesday, and I can get back to working towards a new low.

By Wednesday you should be fine.

Day 180
Today's weigh-in: 231 lbs (-4 from yesterday, +6 from all-time low)
I wanted to be lower than this today. Starting to worry I won't get to a new all-time low this week. But really, it's got to be all salt and retained water. I really really didn't eat that much this past weekend.

I'm continuing to yoyo above/below the 182 mark without making any substantive progress, not helped (a) by my bike being off the road at the moment and (b) eating like a pig.
Next gym session tomorrow, I should just about be over the DOMS from the last one by then, hopefully. Also hope to get bike back on the road tomorrow. While I'm at it, I'll also add hoping for a lottery win - only a pitiful £101 million ($153m) tonight, so not really worth getting excited about.

Because of the windy weather today, I had a match cancelled today and I will be playing two matches tomorrow and it's going to be another crazy day at the pool on Wednesday.

181.8 today. Again. Decent session in the gym, but kind of depressing how enormously far my strength (particularly upper body) has declined since I was last attending.

Day 181
Today's weigh-in: 230 lbs
There is so very much wrong with this.
1) I usually drop ALL of my weekend weight by Wednesday morning, and I'm about 4 lbs behind where I should be.
2) I cheated LESS this past weekend than usual. A lot less.
3) 230 was my old plateau, and seeing that number on the scale again is pretty much the most insulting thing ever. As if everything I've done for the past two months was for nothing.
4) Tomorrow will be exactly half a year since I started this diet. #3 becomes even more insulting when I consider that.
So I might just say F---- this diet for the rest of the week, and then maybe never come back to it again. I realize that's stupid, but I my week is utterly ruined by this.

I was going to play two matches today and I only played the 1st match because the 2nd match was an easy one to win. We won both games and our record stands at 12-2 and we have all-star game to be played on the 30th of this Month and I will be playing on that game as a starter for the team. I was honored to be a starter and after the all-star game is played we have about 16 matches to go to finish the season. I will be playing an exhibition game this Friday with a squad from England that coming over to play an international match that I'm looking forward to it.
I'm gaining a lot of upper arm strength, my abs are getting better, and my weight haven't changed since last weigh in. I'm still at 258 pounds and getting a little tougher to lose weight because after a water polo match you get pretty hungry because you swim an average of average of 1.5 miles per match. Give or Take a few.
I will be walking the track tomorrow for about 3 miles and do some abs work also.

Mecha, what's the key to being good at water polo? How were you able to play so well immediately?

Mecha, what's the key to being good at water polo? How were you able to play so well immediately? Key thing about Water Polo is having stamina in the water and having upper body strength. You need throw a ball that weigh 4 ounces heavier than a soccer ball and you need to learn how to tread water too. I swim 1,500 meters (under 4,900 feet) every other day at the pool around 4 AM in the morning before I have my coffee. I played Water Polo competitively in College for 4 years, played in a Youth League for 3 years and having a ball in my retirement years. I swim in a Senior League that consists of 45 to 60 years old men and this is my 1st year because my Coach saw me swim every other day and seeing me swim a 1,000 meters and asked me to join his team because he saw my arms and I was told that I was a natural. Recap, Stamina, Arm Strength, and Quickness - being able to dart back in forth is also essential for Water Polo and I'm quite good at it. I will be playing in a league in the Spring next year and I will have Water Polo at the GYM that I go to pretty much a half of year. I just love this sport and having a ball with it. Great Exercise too.
