Weighed in at 207 down -4 from 211 on Monday. Getting rid of all the water in this indian summer and I have to eat better at night. The positive is that I've been taking a salad with me the last 3 days and it helps me stay away from bread.

If you lose a pound a week it will still be worth it. Well I'm not even accomplishing that anymore. My wife did some research online and is convinced this is a natural plateau. I sure hope so. I don't plan to do anything differently. I think I look better this week, so hopefully that will be reflected on the scales soon. I've been bad today, but it's Friday, and I've been good all week. I'll try to space out my cheating a little more this weekend and hope that makes a difference. A donut now might mean I'll have less craving for cake when I'm at a party tonight. We'll see. I think, this time around, instead of asking myself what I need to do differently, I need to be kind to me, trust that I'm doing what's right, and not let the lack of progress hurt my sense of self. I think the hardest part about staying on a diet is the harsh things we do to ourselves and our self esteems when we backslide. I really want to try to make this a way of life for me, and that's only going to work if I can endure emotionally as well as physically. It's a struggle. it really is. But I've come so far. I owe it to myself neither to give up on the diet nor on my self-worth.

This is so true Shax, and everyday it's a struggle and I totally understand what you, I, and everyone here goes through and it's a process that we must take a day at a time. Yesterday, I had three snacks and one light dinner and for dessert - two chocolate chip cookies. My total calories intake was 1400 for the whole day. I normally have 1800 to 2300 calories a day. What you've written above is right on the money and I applauded you for that! It's isn't easy for all of us here.

Ok, now that Con is over, and Con Crud is gone, I can get serious about this. I had a full physical in late Aug. and tho my Glucose levels, and Triglycerides were slightly elevated, my Dr. was more concerned about my Vitamin D levels, and my Testosterone levels -- which he said were the lowest he's ever seen. it turns out my Dad has that too (tho had never talked to me about it. . because. . . guy stuff!). anyways, he and i agreed that I'll come back in Feb for a follow up and he wants me to lose at least 20 lbs between Sept & Feb. . since everything it tied together: my belly fat is absorbing the free testosterone in my system, instead of it being absorbed by what needs it. . . which produces more Estrogen, which makes me tired, which makes my belly fat bigger (or something more Doctor-ish than that). That totally explains why my waist size hasn't changed in a few years, tho i'm still putting on some weight (as a friend told me at Dragon*con. . "you're skinny from the back, but then you see the belly!". . . nice anyways, I was 248# at the end of Aug, and my goal weight for going back in Feb is 220#. .so let's see if we can manage to do this .. and it should be easier now that all the Oreos are eaten!

Ok. . 1st "official" weigh in:
9/20: 244.8#
hmm. .I managed to lose 3 lbs since the Dr. visit? Possible I guess, from all that walking at Dragon*con, and then being sick and just not eating much.
let's see if I can keep it up. Next weigh in on Wed.

Good weekend for me. I've noticed countless times over the past two days that my body REALLY looks different this week, and, when I took my kids to the park today, I found myself with more energy than I can recall ever having. I'm beginning to think my wife was right about the lack of weight loss over the past three weeks being caused by my body realigning itself. But, even if that's not what's going on, I am very much convinced for the first time that I DID make a ton of progress this week, even if it wasn't reflected on the scale.
Back to it tomorrow morning. Will probably be +4 lbs or so from going off-diet for the weekend (as always), which it will take me two days to lose, and we'll see where I am after that.

After 16 days on a beautiful Greek island, it's time to face the music. Remember this: Last working day before holiday, so I'm signing off from the thread for a couple of weeks - today's weight is 194.6 (25.4 down from peak, probably something like that away from optimum). Will be happy to come back from holiday below 200, and ecstatic to be below 196 - but I'm not holding my breath for either. On the bright side, "Greece and chocolate" don't really mix because of the heat, so my main source of additional calories will be largely off the agenda; unfortunately, "Greece and Ice cream" and "Holiday and cold lager" go together really well... So, got back at 4am, it's now 0840 after 3 hours of crappy sleep, and today's weigh in says (cue roll of drums.....)
191.8
It's official! I've lost 2.8 pounds over the course of the holiday, breaking through my 194 lbs milestone, to rest at 13stones 9.8 lbs, 2 stones and 0.2 pounds (28.2 pounds) down from my start point, 3 months and about 10 days ago. That's a big, big woohoo, from me! Very, very pleased with that - eschewed most of the ice cream and beer on the holiday so pleased it wasn't to waste. Off to get my bike back once the shop opens in a few minutes.

Day 126
Today's weigh-in: 242.5 lbs (up +2.5)
32.5 lbs down / 52.5 lbs to go
Considering that I ate particularly badly this weekend and that I usually am up 4 lbs on Monday, this is a good sign. Not sure what the week will bring, but I definitely look and feel better than I ever did before as a result of my efforts over the past few weeks, so I'm going to try not to get too hung up on what the scale says. Waaaay back at the beginning of this whole thread, dupont cautioned about putting too much faith in the scale and suggested using body measurements instead. I was too lazy to heed the call. Perhaps it's finally time to invest in some measuring tape.
