I've swam 5 laps today under the supervision of a health club employee to qualify for Water Polo activity in the Fall. After that, I walked 3 miles around their indoor track, did stationary bike, and weights too. Went home after finishing the weights and talking some friends there.

Aborted bike commute today when the gear cable for the front changer became disconnected and dumped me into lowest gear; found that none of the tools that I had with me were appropriate to re-connect it. Dispiriting ride back home (I was about 1/4 way to work), followed by finding that something had come loose in the gear cabling so that even after reconnecting it, I couldn't change gear. I didn't have time to fix it before going to work, so dropped bike off at bike shop for them to fix, and will pick up tomorrow* to hopefully resume the commuting. Sigh. Still, most of weekend's weight "gain" has now departed - back down to 197.4 today, so not all bad news. Definitely finding it a bit of a struggle to keep down to the calorie limit on work-days when I'm not cycling, though. *weather forecast has gusts of 40+ mph wind predicted - and of course, they will be headwinds. So that should be fun

Sorry for falling off of the updates again. The weekend was filled with social obligations, all entailing a lot of food. We were actually out of town, staying with family, so staying on diet wasn't even an option. Monday morning's weigh-in was 239.5, which sounds like a bad setback, but a week ago, when I went off diet, I'd find myself up to 241. A week earlier, it was 243. I consider that progress.
This morning I was down to 237, and by tomorrow, I hope to be back to 234. So I'm not concerned. Going off diet is going to happen regularly, especially on weekends, and if I set myself back a little less each time, then I am still making progress.

A Still, most of weekend's weight "gain" has now departed - back down to 197.4 today, so not all bad news. That's celebration-worthy, my friend. You've had a heck of a lot of setbacks recently, so this is a significant accomplishment.

Day 100 (can you believe it?)
Today's weigh in: 235 lbs (-2 lbs from yesterday, +1 from my all-time low)
30 lbs down / 55 to go
Nearly done getting rid of the weight I gained over the weekend. I should be back to 234 or lower tomorrow!

That's celebration-worthy, my friend. You've had a heck of a lot of setbacks recently, so this is a significant accomplishment. Thanks Shax. To be honest, my setbacks are pretty minor things in the greater scheme of things - others have it a lot harder. Now, having said that, on to today's setback.... Got the bike back - initial fault resolved, but gears still not working properly, so today's bike ride also cancelled. I'll have a fettle with the gears tonight, but if I can't resolve it myself, it'll be back to the shop tomorrow and yet another day written off. In fairness, my knee is still niggling a bit, so another rest day may not be the end of the world. Very frustrating, but the weight is still coming off - somewhat surprised to hit a new low this morning, so looks like all the extra food from the weekend has passed through and I'm back on trajectory again. That weight is just short of my next Brit milestone; one of the handy things of being a Brit on a US site is that the milestones come along on both my normal base-14 weigh-ins and that weird base-10 poundage thing that you guys use Over There - and none of them coincide until I'm 70 lbs down, which is not likely to happen any time soon (ie ever, barring malnutrition or disastrous gastric upset). So, my weight translates into Real Weight (TM) as 14st 0.4 lbs (196.4 lbs), down from 15st 10lbs (220 lbs), loss to date of 1 stone 9.6 lbs (23.6 lbs), and 0.4 lbs to the next milestone, which will probably be pretty much it for a while, as I'm off on holiday from the end of next week.

I was 207 down -2 from Monday. I haven't committed to dropping the bread from my diet lately. I will continue to check in till I get my groove back. Shax, nice job. How is your school schedule affecting your eating?

How is your school schedule affecting your eating? It's working out fine. Thanks much for asking! Psyched to drop weight tomorrow for the first time since returning to work.

Got the gears working well enough to ride the bike tomorrow, though they're still not really right - they'll do for the week until my holiday and I'll have the bike serviced while I'm away.

Day 101
Today's weigh-in: 234 lbs (-1 lb from yesterday)
31 lbs down / 54 to go
Well it took four days, but I've finally taken off all the weight I gained from a weekend of being out of town and off the diet. Last night was challenging because, now that school is back in session, I have a lot less time, and I wasn't able to go food shopping, so my usual spinach salad was made up of aging spinach leaves (you could taste it), turkey bacon strips, onion, and neither the standard diced chicken nor egg whites I usually use. It was very unsatisfying. My salad for lunch today will be similarly lacking, but if I can hold tight, I'll be able to go food shopping tonight.
So the diet is getting a little too Spartan for me, and I hope I won't make a stupid mistake out of hunger today.

Day 102
Yesterday was crazy. I had a meeting after work that ran until 5:30, there was an accident on the highway that turned a twenty minute commute into a ninety minute commute, I still had to get to the supermarket to get more fresh food for my diet after that, I got home at 7:30 only to have a neighbor politely complain that we had tree-sized weeds we hadn't seen encroaching upon her yard, so I ended up spending an hour out there sawing, cutting, and cleaning, then I had to first cook my food for the next three days, and I didn't actually get to eat until 8:30pm. Keep in mind that I only eat twice a day and that the previous time had been at 12pm!
But I did it. I didn't cheat; I didn't make poor decisions. I wasn't even tempted to. When I've been this good on the diet for this many days, I don't really seem to get hungry anymore. I just get weak and know I should eat something.
So, when I'd finally finished cooking all the food I'd eat for the next three days, I passed on half of my dinner, realizing full well I'd be in bed in an hour anyway. I did feel a little hungry going to bed, but I knew I could handle it.
So the end result...
Today's weigh-in: 232 lbs (-2 lbs from yesterday) New low!
33 lbs down, 52 to go
Too bad I've got a birthday party tonight. I'll definitely choose to go off diet. Still, if I could have the weekend I had last weekend--going to event after event, cheating the entire time since I was in someone else's home for the weekend, and temporarily gaining back six lbs--and still end up here five days later, I guess I have nothing to be all that worried about.
