Got crazy hungry at dinner tonight and ate too much, but everything I ate was healthy (spinach salad, non-fat yogurt, dry cereal), so I'm curious what effect this will have upon me tomorrow. What's great is that I'm genuinely craving these things right now. I find that you never lose overeating good food. Just don't overeat Big Macs.

Had a quick look at some stats since I restarted cycling, approximately 6 weeks (couple of rides before 6th July to get back into it, then commuting as much as possible). Total distance travelled 407 miles, total time in the saddle 29 hours. And for today's weigh in, 199.8 lbs! Very happy with that Next target: 14 stones (196 lbs)

Swam 15 (50 meters or 1 Mechagodzilla) Laps this morning and did it hour and 20 minutes - and came home to check on e-mail before heading out for coffee. My swimsuit is feeling a little baggy this morning.

Day 84
Today's weigh-in: 238.5 lbs (-0.0 lbs from yesterday)
26.5 lbs down / 58.5 lbs to go
The big frustration with maintaining the same weight for three days is not the slowness; I can handle that if I know I'm moving in the right direction. It's the questioning -- AM I losing? Or am I stagnant, or maybe even gaining? I've definitely been putting a lot of effort into this and figured I SHOULD have lost something today, but I guess I'll just have to be more patient and hope.

I'm still at 207 as of this morning. I'm feeling better physically so I might start lifting again. I went crazy eating bad stuff yesterday and I think I'm getting it out of my system. At this point I have to take baby steps.

Day 85Today's weigh-in: 237.5 lbs (-1 lbs from yesterday) 27.5 lbs down / 57.5 lbs to go Okay scientists, explain to me how I couldn't drop any weight for three days and then went down one lbs in 24 hours. You know what, don't. I don't need to know; I'm just going to revel in it. I have been super addicted to two healthy meals lately, so that's all I ate yesterday. Probably not healthy to keep eating the same thing again and again, but I'm sure I'll tire of it soon anyway: 1. Nonfat greek yogurt covered in Honey Nut Cheerios (had three servings) 2. A spinach salad I had while on vacation that I'm now emulating at home, consisting of 5 oz spinach, 1 grilled chicken breast, three hardboiled egg whites, three strips of turkey bacon, and 1/2 red onion. No dressing. That actually makes two servings, but I ate them both Eating this stuff has left me feeling satisfied and absolutely full, so I'll keep doing it until my body gets tired of eating this stuff (I give it another day or two).

Whenever you have these pauses where you're more-or-less on a particular trajectory of weight, and it either blips upwards for a day or 2 followed by a plateau or just flat-lines when you're keeping to your programme, it's probably just a bit of difference in the timing of digestive transit, relative to when you're weighing. In short, you were full of it and now not so much

In short, you were full of it and now not so much Yes. I think I may have been under-hydrated. One of the problems with checking the scale multiple times per day is that it leaves you constantly worrying about what you shouldn't ingest right before a weigh-in. I think I was avoiding water too often, as it would temporarily add to my weight. But, in the long run, without enough water moving through my system, proper digestion wasn't happening.

Mid-morning update:
Hit the scale again, and now I'm showing 236? What the heck???
Of course, what goes down must come up. I was also reminded that we're attending a family gathering tonight where there will be an endless supply of BBQ (my big diet weakness!). I could just choose not to eat, but that's a kind of torture that just isn't worth it. Likely, I'll gorge myself, regret little, and be back at 238 tomorrow. Ah, conflicting desires!

Curate's Egg of a start to the day - unexpected blip up in weight followed (possibly fueled by anger at the weight) set my 4th successive fastest cycling commute, taking nearly 2 minutes off my best inward time. Overall, happy with that start to the day (and the feeling of wanting to smash the scales has subsided)

Day 86
Today's weigh-in: 237.5 lbs (-0 lbs from yesterday)
27.5 lbs down / 57.5 lbs to go
The BBQ wasn't as terrible for me as I thought. I was genuinely surprised to find myself craving very very little now that I'm used to eating so much less. I had two sliders, a hot dog, a bite-size brownie, a small chocolate chip cookie, a diet Dr. Pepper, and a whiskey. I felt totally full and did no serious damage to my weight.
I actually feel quite bloated from last night, so I assume that once my body clears a few things out, I'll lose more weight today. Looking forward to that!

I didn't eat to badly yesterday until the evening when my wife and I ate at Buffalo Wild Wings. Eve there I ate the wings with a salad. But I still stayed at 207. I really have to get on my bike.
