A quick look at my calendar shows that I've spun my wheels for a week . I went from 210 on Sunday to 212, 210, 209 back to 211. Too many cheat meals and celebrating my weekends. I realize I have to clean that up. I added a bike ride yesterday and I plan to start lifting weights this week, that should help.
Also, I am going to stop buying bananas. I love them but I'm hearing that they are high in calories.

Sorry. Kind of sucks that she made a "date night" just to break her news. No, you don't know my wife. She meant it as a date night and then decided she needed to end things the second the evening didn't go her way. But I don't want to hijack the thread with this.

Started a pseudo "diet" and exercise regime about five months ago. Basically just calorie monitoring, focusing impulse control and average 30min work out 3-5 times a week. Dropped 35 lbs with 25 more to go for my ultimate goal. Can't believe hiw far idet myself go or how much better I feel. Also pleased with how easy (for lack of a better term) the adjustments I've made have been. Wish I'd started long ago. Main problem now is I've hit the plateau, and I'm not dropping the lbs as I would like. But I went in with the understanding and mindset this would be a marathon not a sprint. So I approached it all with baby steps and thus I've been able to cope with the changes to lifestyle and stay positive and confident. I'm getting results im content with and capable of maintaining.

That's incredibly impressive, and it's not a pseudo-diet when it's something you've designed yourself that suits your individual needs. If anything, that's the ONLY way to diet. Any former patron of the Atkins and South Beach diets would likely agree So I did a mid-day check and, son of a gun, I'm back down to 250 again. I was so full from last night's burger that I skipped breakfast, had breakfast for lunch, and had lunch for dinner, plus we literally walked all over town all day today since the weather was in agreement. With any luck, I'll hit 249 tomorrow morning. Tomorrow is our all day end of the school year bash for my department, and I plan to behave with reckless abandon, so it would be nice to start the day at a low weight before I tack on the poundage. Also, for the moment, my wife is acting like last night did not happen, so balance is (temporarily?) restored.

i've been eating all today like it's my last meal. Get it out of your system, and then come back with a plan to strike hard. Still here to help you along the way, and a week without progress is just an indication to restrategize, not give up.

Be sure to take measurements as to not get discouraged if you don't shed pounds, you may still be shedding inches. A banana has about 100 calories, it's not bad at all. People who avoid bananas when dieting are usually sticking to a low carb diet. Cutting carbs where you can is great too, but I never liked going too far with it. Cutting simple carbs in processed food is a good start, while still allowing for carbs in good natural food like fruit. But, according to my ideal calorie intake according to myfitnesspal, combined with my ideal carb intake required for my medication, a banana has about double the carbs I would need it to have if I were to live off them.

Day 22
My starting weight: 265 lbs My ideal weight for my height: 185 lbs My goal: 220 lbs by August (15 lbs per month for three months)
Today's weigh in: 251 lbs. (-2 lb from yesterday, -14 lbs overall).
I really wanted to be at 249 today. I consumed 850 calories yesterday, not because I was trying to starve myself, but because I was still full from that burger the night before. I was hoping that would get me where I wanted to be today. Oh well. Since Day 1 of this diet, I knew for sure I'd have three big cheat days ahead of me: Memorial Day, my vacation in July, and today -- the end of year golf outing, where folks get drunk as a skunk on the green, and the whole darn thing is catered. I am NOT going to eat responsibly today.
My plan for today:
Breakfast: 1 serving of vanilla yogurt with sliced fresh banana mixed in. Multivitamin and Calcium/Magnesium supplement. Green tea (as per the4thpip)
Afterward: Whatever!

This is Day 13
Start date: 5-27-15 My starting weight: 218 lbs My goal: 180 lbs
Today's weigh in: 211 ( 0 - from yesterday, -7 overall)
Yesterdays meals
930am Shredded wheat , 2 bananas, raisins, skin milk
2pm ham,cheese,mayo on a roll. small soda.
530pm wine , 3 candy bars
9pm chicken soup, bread
1am grapes
Review of the day:
I ate 5 meals and 4 of them had food that is off my plan. Bad day but I gained nothing from the previous day nor did I lose anything. An overview from a weekly viewpoint shows that I lost 1 pound for the week. But It's a Pyrrhic victory at best. Candy bars for Saturday and Sunday coupled with wine was definitely a bad thing. Anyway, today I go back to salad and protein. I am cutting bananas out of the diet and concentrate on fruits that have more water in them.

This is Day 14
Start date: 5-27-15 My starting weight: 218 lbs My goal: 180 lbs Today's weigh in: 211 ( 0 - from yesterday, -7 overall)
10am 3 apples
130 pm chicken, salad
1240am white castle cheeseburgers, small fries
Review of the day: Was doing well but my wife had to go to the emergency room and spent the day there from 3pm to about 1130pm. I did some emotional eating at the end of the day. Stayed the same as yesterday. I'm okay with it because I'm sure the loss will show up tomorrow.

Day 23
My starting weight: 265 lbs My ideal weight for my height: 185 lbs My goal: 220 lbs by August (15 lbs per month for three months)
Today's weigh in: 252.5 lbs. (+1.5 lb from yesterday, -14 lbs overall).
I'm actually amazed I didn't put on more, as I ate, drank, and smoked like a fiend at the golf outing yesterday (as I'd planned to!). Back on track today.
Inspired by Icctrombone's post about spinning his wheels, I decided to check where I was a week ago on the diet and found this:
Now, granted, I was a day or two out from my having last gone off the diet, and today is just the morning after, but even still, that definitely shows a slowing of weight loss. I will have to make sure my cheats from this point forward are less wild, and really, that was the plan anyway. Yesterday was intended to be one of only three completely wild-abandon eating events of this summer. The next will be in mid-July when we go on vacation for a week, at which point I refuse to eat sensibly and fully expect to gain 5 lbs.
My plan for today:
Breakfast: I will likely skip breakfast this morning.
Lunch: Cheese sandwich
Snacks: Half-serving of Frosted Mini-Wheats
Dinner: Homemade unbreaded chicken tenders in soy sauce and cumin. Spinach.
Desert: Pineapple slices, baby carrots. Maybe a banana.

My husband is kicking my butt at rowing.
I did 2,000 meters and was all, "WOOTIAMAWESOME!!!" And then he's like, "Oh, hey, I just did 4,000 meters."
He is not better than me. Just different.
And onward.
