Day 13
My starting weight: 265 lbs My ideal weight for my height: 185 lbs My goal: 220 lbs by August (15 lbs per month for three months)
Today's weigh in: 253 lbs (-1 since yesterday; -12 lbs overall)
Another weekend and another series of opportunities to go off diet. I will have to tread carefully if I don't want to spend half of next week undoing damage from going off-diet during the weekend again. Additionally, next week is the last week of school for me, and I worry about sticking to this diet during the summer, when I'll have a lot more down time and opportunities to go off-diet. I'm going to look at still losing weight after last night as a sincere gift and try not to push it too much today and tomorrow. I've got family brunch today, but I've learned how to eat relatively healthily there. However, I'm also likely going to a second party tonight; it's after dinner, so if I eat well, I shouldn't need to consume much there.
My plan for today:
Breakfast: 1 serving of all-natural vanilla yogurt. Multivitamin and Calcium/Magnesium supplement.
Brunch: turkey sausage patty, bowl of oatmeal with nuts, bananas, and cranberries, buttered english muffin
Throughout the day snack: Half a serving of dry Frosted Mini-Wheats (for iron and fiber)
Dinner: Two chicken breasts marinated in no more than two tablespoons of soy sauce, and with cumin to taste (I honestly missed having this last night)
After dinner at the party: We'll see what's there and how I'm feeling, but I'm going to try to keep my consumption small.

I'm so glad that you still experienced a loss in weight even though you went off plan. Happy for you, shax.

I'm always afraid that when I go off the plan, I will just binge eat. Today my wife wants to fire up the pit and cook on the grill. I'm a little afraid because it usually comes with some wine.I might use tonight as an occasion to "plan cheat" with the wine. Of all the alcohol you could have while on a diet, I'd think wine would be the healthiest. It's got sugar and some calories, but it's really not that bad, and there are health benefits if it's red.

Holy crap. So I've noticed a common thread with my cheating is that it happens when I'm extremely tired.
Case and point. Woke up, posted here about being careful with my diet today, thirty minutes later had an insatiable craving for hot dog, went downstairs and had one
...followed by a corn dog
...followed by three spoonfuls of baked beans
....followed by three spoonfuls of macaroni salad
...followed by a hamburger bun
And, while scratching my head as to what the hell had just happened, realized I'd slept for three and a half hours last night.
Lesson learned.
Gonna be a rough day.

Fiber, Fiber. Fiber... Fiber helps you feel full but is not absorbed by the body so no weight gain, just a healthier digestive tract.
I was on vacation this week, went to my Son's house for 7 days. Grandsons Sectional Track Meet Saturday, Ocean City N.J. Sunday, Cookout Monday, Worked On My Car for 3 Days and Played With All Of My Grandkids. For the most part I ate what I would normally eat at home and lost another 3 lbs since Sunday.

Day 5
MY starting weight: 218 lbs My goal: 180 lbs
Today's weigh in:213(+3 from yesterday, -5 overall)
I expected some reaction to the food I ate when I came home and I got it. The pastry my wife made had caramel, marshmallow ,lots of sugar and bad carbs, and it was the size of a Whopper but boy was it delicious. I also had 2 cups of red wine and Mashed potatoes. I’ll shake it off and go get em today. I realize that I have to eat more salads. I haven’t eaten one it 2 days and it helps a lot to move things along. I do feel a bit stopped up. The real number will show up tomorrow morning and then I will know if I’m holding on to water from last nights meal or if the 5 pound loss was a lack of water from the previous day.
Yesterdays food.
730 am -omellete /peppers
830am- 3 oranges
1245 pm-roasted chicken/ cole slaw
545pm-chicken in tomatoe sauce, mashed potatoes, red wine Pastry
1030pm orange

For the most part I ate what I would normally eat at home and lost another 3 lbs since Sunday. Well done, man. What kind of fiber are you eating? Recommended serving size of Kellogs All Bran(10g) or Kashi Go Lean(13g), 3 handfuls of Peanuts(2g) and 1 TBSP of Chia Seeds(5 g). I also eat a Fiber One Brownie Bar each day(5g) and eat cooked Spinach(7g) or Brussel Sprouts(4g) at dinner each night Without getting into yucky detail I can tell you that the added fiber has worked. When I eat bread it is "Whole Grain" which is typically about 6g per slice. Pepperidge Farm makes a "Double Fiber" Whole Wheat but I prefer the Arnold "Double Protein" Whole Wheat. Generally when I eat bread it is with Tuna(No Mayo, YUCK!!!)with Cucumber, Tomato and Onion.

This has proven to be a most challenging weekend...
Day 13 in reflection:
Successes: Arguably none.
Struggles: I was on three hours of sleep, had a million places to be (each where food was offered and expected to be consumed), and I ran out of water in the house (the tap water here tastes terrible), so my will power was zapped, my ability to control when and what I ate was compromised, and I couldn't even hydrate properly without drinking high calorie juice in order to do so.
Failures/cheats: I was off diet the entire day, but not by choice. I began with my morning breakdown where I ate a hotdog, corndog, hamburger bun, and some baked beans and macaroni salad before realizing I was on no sleep and really not in control of my will. Later, there was family brunch, and I still ate my turkey sausage patty and buttered english muffin, but found very little room for oatmeal. I ran around a lot for the rest of the day, spending time with family, watching the kids, and accomplishing tasks, managed to work out getting in a two hour nap eventually, but then woke up without enough time to prepare my dinner ahead of going to the girls' three hour dance recital, so I had to grab food out of the fridge instead, which entailed a hot dog and some more baked beans. After the recital, my wife decided we should take the girls out for frozen yogurt, so I chose wisely and only had a small amount with my only topping being a table spoon or so of Lucky Charms.
None of that was so terrible. I'd still consumed less than I normally would on a non-diet day, but what really did me in was when I went to my buddy's birthday at a bar after. I was out 'til 11:30 drinking on three hours of sleep, and when the table ordered this super greasy pizza, I partook of three slices. I think that's what's killing me this morning. Each one of those slices was choc full of empty calories and fat.
All in all: F day for me. Completely lost control of my diet.

That could be undigested food in the stomach.

Day 14
My starting weight: 265 lbs My ideal weight for my height: 185 lbs My goal: 220 lbs by August (15 lbs per month for three months)
Today's weigh in: 256 lbs (+3 since yesterday; -9 lbs overall)
I'm not letting yesterday bring me down. Positive mindset is everything in a diet. Today, I have much more control over my day and can plan wisely. The only thing happening today is my taking the girls to a local comic show (about 30 mins away), where I can bring my diet-friendly snacks to tide me over, even as I'll buy them things like soft pretzels and chips. I can handle that. Lunch will be more complicated, as there's nothing in the house to feed them. I'll have to pick up something to bring back to the house so that I can dine healthily with them. By dinner time, my wife will be home, and I can let her worry about feeding them while I FINALLY have my soy-cumin chicken breasts that I've been missing these past two days.
No doubt that my body WANTS to get back on diet today. I don't feel as terrible as I did last time I went off diet last weekend (of course, this time no red meat was involved), but my belly is full and upset, my entire body feels too full of salt, and my energy level is nil. I want to feel good again.
My plan for today:
Breakfast: 1 serving of all-natural vanilla yogurt. Multivitamin and Calcium/Magnesium supplement.
Lunch: My homemade stew, now with twice the spinach and half the salt (garlic, onion, yellow pepper, spinach, tomato paste, cayenne pepper, black pepper, salt, ex virgin olive oil). Organic, choc full of nutrients, vegan, low carb, and low fat.
Throughout the day snack: Half a serving of dry Frosted Mini-Wheats (for iron and fiber)
Dinner: Two chicken breasts marinated in no more than two tablespoons of soy sauce, and with cumin to taste (I honestly missed having this last night)
Other snacks (if needed): raw unsalted cashews, baby carrots, sliced pineapple
