ok. . started back on plan on 4/1 at 218 1st check in was on 4/14 and came in at 211.6 2nd check in was this morning, and stayed on track - even with a large Passover meal on Friday night at the Seder (yes, including deserts). but I kept up with my daily walking, and weighed in 4/22 at 208. so down 10lbs total in 3 weeks. despite it being my Birthday week, for the most part I behaved.
we did go to Brazillian Steakhouse, where I way overate (but mostly meats/protein), and I only had one (giant, but one) piece of Birthday cake - a Red Velvet 1 layer. Then yesterday spent day at Six Flags Fiesta Texas. . but at least had a salad with my meal plan (still almost 1000 calories, but other than that and an Icee, I only had Pineapple all day yesterday. . so still kept the calorie count low)
but I stuck with no soda, no fast food, and kept up my walking every day (minimum 40 minutes/maximum 1:10).
and today weighed in at 206.2
so yeah, not as much as I've been losing - have been averaging ~3 lbs per week, and this is just under 2 lbs. but OK, still going in the correct direction, and means that in April, i have dropped ~12 lbs.
so I guess that's good.
about to go pig out on Sushi, but that's not too bad . . and besides, eating it for lunch, so have whole day to digest.

I weighed in at 201.8 this morning. I’m not really dieting, other than just taking my lunch with me everyday. 204 201.8 That's excellent! No filet of fish for you 😁 Well if McDonalds would give you some actual fish with that tartar sauce it probably wouldnt be such a bad choice lol

Day 14
4/13: 278 lbs, 50.0" diameter 4/15: 277 lbs, 51.5" diameter 4/16: 273 lbs, 50.5" diameter 4/17: 270 lbs, 49.5" diameter 4/18: 271 lbs, 50.0" diameter 4/19: 268 lbs, 48.5" diameter 4/20: 267.5 lbs, 49.0" diameter 4/21 270.5 lbs, 50" diameter 4/22 268 lbs, 51" diameter 4/23 267 lbs, 49" diameter 4/24 265.5 lbs, 48" diameter 4/25 264 lbs, 48" diameter 4/26 263.5 lbs, 49" diameter 4/27 267.5 lbs, 48" diameter 4/28 266 lbs, 48" diameter
Bad bad bad bad bad bad day. So f*ck my diet. I ate what I pleased. I still ended up sticking to the diet more than not because I actually find it comforting, but I was at my mother's place, where I was surrounded by bad foods and treats too, and food has always been my primary means of coping with screwed up situations, so I ate like a champ, and somehow still came out with pretty decent results for today. Frankly, I don't get it. I wonder if I'm going to pay for it with my numbers for the next two days.

Day 154/13: 278 lbs, 50.0" diameter 4/15: 277 lbs, 51.5" diameter 4/16: 273 lbs, 50.5" diameter 4/17: 270 lbs, 49.5" diameter 4/18: 271 lbs, 50.0" diameter 4/19: 268 lbs, 48.5" diameter 4/20: 267.5 lbs, 49.0" diameter 4/21 270.5 lbs, 50" diameter 4/22 268 lbs, 51" diameter 4/23 267 lbs, 49" diameter 4/24 265.5 lbs, 48" diameter 4/25 264 lbs, 48" diameter 4/26 263.5 lbs, 49" diameter 4/27 267.5 lbs, 48" diameter 4/28 266 lbs, 48" diameter 4/29 264 lbs, 48" diameter Continuing to go through a rough situation, so while I kept to the diet beautifully for most of the day, I cheated really really badly after dinner, essentially throwing anything in my mouth that looked like it might make me feel more okay inside. Nothing did. I've got to teach my body to lose that instinct. Crazy thing is, my diet is so good for me, that even cheating badly didn't set me back at all. I'm down 2 lbs from yesterday, and almost back at my all time low last Friday. I've got a lot of hope for this diet. It really is comfortable this time around, and I'm hoping my instincts are going to learn what the rest of me already knows -- my diet food is actually more comforting for me than off-diet food. Except for carbs. Extra carbs do feel soooooooo good in moderation

Weekends are actually easier for me because I have the time and energy to do meal preparation and eat right. Weeknights are what kill me. Like last night I made some fajita meat that I was going to top on a salad. But by almost 8 before I got done what I needed to and could cook, I got tired and lazy and just threw some rice into the cooker and ate the meat with that.

Weekends are tough because of the mental aspect of having “fun”. Fun meaning pigging out.

I can see that yeah. It's just instead of food, beer for me. Which is carbs and not good for me either. Which might be why I double up on making sure I eat healthy to counter it.

Morning gets you the lower weight, but it's a false weight. Plus this gives me a goal to work towards all day. You do you and whatever works for you, but the reason you normally weigh in the morning is that it's more repeatable - it's weighing your body, not the contents of your bladder or the weight of your last meal

You do you and whatever works for you, but the reason you normally weigh in the morning is that it's more repeatable - it's weighing your body, not the contents of your bladder or the weight of your last meal I weigh myself around 10pm. By that point, whatever I ate for dinner should be well digested. It also gives me a major incentive not to do any late night snacking. But thanks for the tip!

Day 16
4/13: 278 lbs, 50.0" diameter 4/15: 277 lbs, 51.5" diameter 4/16: 273 lbs, 50.5" diameter 4/17: 270 lbs, 49.5" diameter 4/18: 271 lbs, 50.0" diameter 4/19: 268 lbs, 48.5" diameter 4/20: 267.5 lbs, 49.0" diameter 4/21 270.5 lbs, 50" diameter 4/22 268 lbs, 51" diameter 4/23 267 lbs, 49" diameter 4/24 265.5 lbs, 48" diameter 4/25 264 lbs, 48" diameter 4/26 263.5 lbs, 49" diameter 4/27 267.5 lbs, 48" diameter 4/28 266 lbs, 48" diameter 4/29 264 lbs, 48" diameter 4/30 263 lbs, 47" diameter
As I'm still going through a rough time following this past weekend, I gave myself permission to cheat as much as I wanted today. I now understand that my diet foods actually make me feel better than most non-diet foods, so I still ate according to plan, but I allowed myself to supplement wherever I wanted.
And wherever I wanted wasn't so bad. One pack of goldfish, one serving of mac n cheese, two oreo cookies. That was it, but it FELT like a huge indulgence, and I felt thoroughly satisfied all day.
And I STILL came in at my lowest measurements yet, both for weight and for diameter.
I think I'm on to something, here...

Day 17
4/13: 278 lbs, 50.0" diameter 4/15: 277 lbs, 51.5" diameter 4/16: 273 lbs, 50.5" diameter 4/17: 270 lbs, 49.5" diameter 4/18: 271 lbs, 50.0" diameter 4/19: 268 lbs, 48.5" diameter 4/20: 267.5 lbs, 49.0" diameter 4/21 270.5 lbs, 50" diameter 4/22 268 lbs, 51" diameter 4/23 267 lbs, 49" diameter 4/24 265.5 lbs, 48" diameter 4/25 264 lbs, 48" diameter 4/26 263.5 lbs, 49" diameter 4/27 267.5 lbs, 48" diameter 4/28 266 lbs, 48" diameter 4/29 264 lbs, 48" diameter 4/30 263 lbs, 47" diameter 5/1 262 lbs, 47" diameter
With so much going on in my life right now, I just haven't had the discipline to stick rigidly to my diet this week. And yet, I think I've retrained my instincts well enough, and done a good enough job supplying myself with healthy options, that even when I cheat, I still end up ahead. The extra I'm eating is mostly really good for me because that's what my body is learning to find nourishing and comforting again. For the moment, this is wonderful. I can feel totally satiated and continue to lose weight. But I realize this is a slippery slope, and I'm probably going to need to get stricter again next week.
This weekend, my girlfriend and I are going away to Amish Country. We are bringing healthy food and snacks, but we fully intend to sample some of the great cooking there. We'll see how that goes.

By that point, whatever I ate for dinner should be well digested. It also gives me a major incentive not to do any late night snacking. That's good motivation. Regarding the 10 PM weight, don't forget that even after your dinner has been digested, most of its mass is still there in your body (in a, shall we say, less palatable form). Unless you went to the toilet, the only mass you'll have lost will be through respiration (the carbon in CO2) and through evaporation of H2O. Both represent minimal losses. The good news is that your weight at 10 PM is higher than your "real" weight, so you're always a little ahead!

The good news is that your weight at 10 PM is higher than your "real" weight, so you're always a little ahead! That's a big part of the idea. Last time around, I got so discouraged believing I was at 149 lbs and then getting weighed at the doctor and told I was 152. Now I know when I say I'm 162 that I'm 162 at most. And yes, I do tend to use the bathroom at night before weigh-in. My metabolism is lightning quick these days.

Day 18
4/13: 278 lbs, 50.0" diameter 4/15: 277 lbs, 51.5" diameter 4/16: 273 lbs, 50.5" diameter 4/17: 270 lbs, 49.5" diameter 4/18: 271 lbs, 50.0" diameter 4/19: 268 lbs, 48.5" diameter 4/20: 267.5 lbs, 49.0" diameter 4/21 270.5 lbs, 50" diameter 4/22 268 lbs, 51" diameter 4/23 267 lbs, 49" diameter 4/24 265.5 lbs, 48" diameter 4/25 264 lbs, 48" diameter 4/26 263.5 lbs, 49" diameter 4/27 267.5 lbs, 48" diameter 4/28 266 lbs, 48" diameter 4/29 264 lbs, 48" diameter 4/30 263 lbs, 47" diameter 5/1 262 lbs, 47" diameter 5/2 263 lbs, 47" diameter
Did really well today and felt great. Then I went to see Avengers: Endgame, and didn't even snack in the theater (which is so unlike me!), but I absolutely had to go out with my buddy to talk about the film afterward, and that meant eating. I was neither hungry nor full -- a little extra treat sounded nice. I looked for something simple on the menu: a side of rice pilaf or something-- but it was all fried trash. So I ordered a turkey wrap. It was amazing. I ate it all. It also came with french fries. They were amazing. I had some.
Worst cheat in the world? Not at all. But it was a lot more food than I needed AND at after 10pm. I really haven't taken the diet very seriously this week. Part of that is trying to view it as a new lifestyle instead of a short-term burst of discipline, but I feel if I continue to be this lax, it will be a very slippery slope towards not dieting at all in the long run.
Tomorrow begins a three day vacation getaway with the girlfriend, and I absolutely will be lax with the diet there. Bringing healthy food, but not bringing a scale. We'll go off diet whenever we please.
See you all again for reporting in on Sunday.
