Day 6 in reflection:
Successes: First time ever having to get through a day on the diet when not at work. Without distractions around, there was more temptation to go off diet, but I knew what snacks to fall back on, rationed wisely, and just kept counting down to the evening Indians game, where I'd given myself permission to go off diet. The best part is, going off diet wasn't the amazing experience I'd expected. I missed the textures of soft pretzels and ball park hot dogs, but the flavors and feeling were nothing special. I ate my share, but I don't need any more of that. I'm ready to go back on diet.
Struggles: Nothing serious.
Failures/cheats: Considering that eating whatever I wanted at the ballpark was the plan all along, then I guess I didn't cheat at all. I had two hot dogs, a soft pretzel, a bag of cracker jacks, a diet coke, and about an eighth of a bud light. All told, I probably consumed around 27-28,000 calories for the day. Not a major loss, and the experience was a valuable one. Right now, my diet is comfortable and doable. To go Spartan and deny myself any relief from it would make it more difficult to stick with in the long run.
All in all: A C- day for health, but an A+ day for sticking to the plan.
My only concern is that there's more going off diet coming up this weekend, with Sunday brunch tomorrow, and Memorial Day BBQ Monday. I'll try my best to stick to my diet beyond those meals, but that requires my family to either eat at home with me for each of those meals or go out without me -- a hard position to put them in when we're usually so fond of staying out of the house on weekends. Maybe I can push for a picnic and bring my foods along.

I used to not care for hot dogs as a kid but I'm starting to love them more and more the older I get. I actually buy them now, for myself!

Day 7
My starting weight: 265 lbs My ideal weight for my height: 185 lbs My goal: 220 lbs by August (15 lbs per month for three months)
Today's weigh in: 256 lbs (-1 lbs from yesterday; -9 lbs overall)
So...have your best day on the diet yet, gain a pound. Go to a baseball game the next day and eat anything you want, lose a pound.
Weight is stupid.
Still feeling a little bloated from yesterday, and my sugar induced nightmares were not fun. Still feeling sugar-weird this morning, a bit.
My plan for today:
Breakfast: 1 serving of all-natural vanilla yogurt
Brunch: Going to get plain oatmeal and put raisins in it at First Watch. Might allow myself a turkey sausage patty (I love those!)
Throughout the day snack: Half a serving of dry Frosted Mini-Wheats (for iron and fiber)
Dinner: Two Foreman-grilled chicken breasts marinated in no more than two tablespoons of soy sauce, and with cumin to taste.
Other snacks (if needed): raw unsalted cashews, baby carrots, sliced pineapple

Shax- I would starve to death on your diet. So, good for you for not starving to death! Starting to get addicted to that burn/muscle-pumped feeling after my workouts. After a go on the rowing machine, I feel like I could crack skulls (with my upper thighs)!

It's going to take a few days when I arrive back in the states to get " well". I think I drank more in this 8 days than all of last year. But I don't think I've over eaten , funny as that sounds.

So I'm skipping breakfast. Still stuffed from last night.
No, you wouldn't starve, cw. The trick is nourishing your body right so it always feels satisfied with what it needs and no more. Trust me. If I can do this, anyone can. Hunger is pretty much my worst enemy.

After a go on the rowing machine, I feel like I could crack skulls (with my upper thighs)! There's probably a way to make money doing that

Discovered today that because my floor is slightly uneven, the readings on my scale can vary pretty significantly depending on where I place it. Which is pretty annoying. Naturally, I found the spot with the lowest reading and used that one. I think that is the right spot, actually, as it seems to be one place that is totally flat. I think the higher readings are from the wobble adding more pressure. Going forward, I will be putting the scale in this same exact spot to try and ensure I get steady readings.

It depends on the scale(s) you use obviously, but weight fluctuation was very common on my journey. I'd have ten pound swings in one day, wouldn't bat an eye over it. The clothes/shoes you're wearing, amount of food and water in your system, and scale variance can be quite dramatic. Plus once you start working out you may build a bit of muscle weight.
Unless I'm weighing on the same professionally calibrated scale at the same time each day and wearing the same things, I wouldn't worry about the scale except after a few weeks.

I keep it simple, I weigh myself first thing in the morning with no clothes on , Usually after going to the bathroom.
