So no official meetings tomorrow, a partial on Monday and then nothing until Thursday...and that will only happen if something substantial occurs on Monday. Personally I think the President and all the Senators and Representatives shouldn't be able to leave DC until an agreement is reached but I suppose I don't make the rules. In all fairness, the representatives had reached an agreement in time... It’s a certain five times draft dodger who refused to endorse it, bragged about shutting down government, then blamed his opponents anyway. Man, if anyone ever deserved a lump of coal for Christmas...

Eh, the House of Reps could have a grown a spine and just ratified the Senate's version of the Spending Bill and sent it to the Resolute Desk where the President probably would have caved yet again so I blame them.

It's not wrong, he isn't very progressive.

What is crap about it? O'Rourke consistently votes significantly to the right of the rest of the Democrats in Congress.

I think he is the best possible Democrat out there for Texas, and he seems to have charisma and principles which already sets him far beyond most politicians, but I agree he is not ideally what I would want in a Democratic presidential candidate.

Were we talking about Jordan Peterson a few pages ago? I had never heard of him, so I don't really remember what the context was. Somebody was saying he was misunderstood, I think. Anyway, I saw this today … Jordan Peterson and friendsQuite frankly, he sounds like a daft wanker. But I don't think the discussion on this thread was about whether or not he was a daft wanker.

I'd only heard of Peterson about a year or so ago, and since then I've watched a few of his lectures posted on YouTube, and a few interviews with him on various news/talk shows. Calling him a daft wanker is being charitable. As that roughly 3-minute video demonstrates, among other things he has a tendency to boldly assert his own (often quite speculative) opinions on certain subjects - birth control in particular in this specific case - as though they are irrefutable facts.

He is not. Some of his views would be at 180 of the ones you've expressed on this thread in the past, to be sure, but he often brings a very welcome clarity to certain issues being discussed today. He is definitely not just a crank with an agenda. I’ve disagreed with several of his opinions in the past, which is to be expected of anyone, but I don’t think a three minute clip is enough to get a good idea of the kind of thinker he is. Should you be interested, here is a more representative discussion he had a while back (and no, it is not the famous one with Cathy Newman). He is not the boogeyman some want to depict him as. I think his big fans exaggerate his importance, but he is far more than a looney on a soapbox.

From the quality of Frank Robbins’ art to the qualification of Donald Trump as president, most people assert their opinion as though they were irrefutable facts.

And none of which changes the fact he couldn’t beat a badly damaged Ted Cruz. I’m not holding my breath that he’s ready for prime-time.

I still like Corey Booker myself... I'm not sure he can win a national election though. I could see Biden doing well, but I personally think he's too old.
