In a thread where bashing Trump 24/7 is par for the course, I would appear as a troll to those whose hateful/resentful line I refuse to tow. I've also said much earlier on, when I used to post as RAZORMAID, that my hubby (who's American) has family who were part of a campaign team in one of the winning states and one that was lost by a not-so-huge margin. This thread has basically descended into the depths of someone calling Trump supporters slavering racists and other condescending remarks where they are addressed with scorn and incredulity, perhaps that is the performance art you prefer.
I'm still just over here waiting for someone to post one single positive accomplishment by Trump as POTUS. One begins to wonder whether any actually exist. I think he was right to throw some cruise missiles at Syria. Not because it changed anything to the situation, but because it showed Assad that he was ready to use force unilaterally (while Obama, in that particular conflict, always sought a consensus with American allies first). Flexing muscles like that was a good message to send, as it kept America's adversaries uncertain as to just how far the new president was ready to go. He increased NASA's budget. That wins anyone points as far as I'm concerned. Trump should also be praised for what he didn't do, I suppose: he didn't start a war with Iran nor North Korea yet. Posturing and tweets aside, he caused fewer deaths than the better-behaved GWB. Damaged relations can be rebuilt, torn treaties can be redrawn, a better political climate can be restored, but lost lives can't be replaced.

The man deserves to be bashed. With this wonderful preamble of yours, you do realise it's pointless trying to discuss anything positive about Trump to you. You'd fault it, dismiss it, wouldn't buy it, in the same way I'd politely ask others to get off my lawn or Facebook. Although many States still remain red (much to your chagrin) that proportion just doesn't correlate to this place - which is basically an echo-chamber of your own contempt for the man. Anyway, got some friendly Mod intervention, for those who don't know, a simple visit to edit profile, privacy, members block list can work wonders.
So, more deflection, sidestepping, and distracting noise. No substance. While not surprising, it is disappointing. Believe it or not, a lot of us are tired of being horrified and appalled at everything the guy does. It's exhausting. I would love if he could just handle some regular presidenty things in a regular presidenty manner. I would be thrilled if he did something good. Once again, we don't dislike what he says and does because he's the one who says and does it. We dislike him because he says and does so many AWFUL things. I'm still just over here waiting for someone to post one single positive accomplishment by Trump as POTUS. One begins to wonder whether any actually exist. Damaged relations can be rebuilt, torn treaties can be redrawn, a better political climate can be restored, but lost lives can't be replaced. Credit where due, flexing on Syria and funding NASA were good, I will grant you that. Okay, so not LITERALLY everything he has done as POTUS has been objectively terrible. Yay! And while I'm certainly glad he didn't, I find not bathsit-crazy-shit-talking-and-starting-a-war to be a basic requirement, not an achievement worth praising.

Yeah..."I didn't blow up the world today, give me a cookie" is not really praiseworthy.

Yeah..."I didn't blow up the world today, give me a cookie" is not really praiseworthy. No, he gets TWO cookies, while everyone else only gets one, just to show them how special and important he is.

I'd love to read about Brexit from UK members, it gets crowded out of the news over here so much. I hadn't wanted to single him out but it was when The Captain referred to Ivanka as a dumb blonde that I made a point about name calling, if you're against it or someone who does a lot of it... but it's as much talking to myself as anyone else, obviously we all need to blow off steam sometimes when you've had a lot of something or someone. If everything is going to be extremely personal for you the old maxim about not talking politics or religion stands the test of time. If you're here you accept some basics about exposure to opinions you won't agree with I might hope. Funny how someone who demanded a birth certificate from another president they claimed was really foreign, promised if he ran/became the nominee/president would of course share his tax returns people speculated about known foreign entanglements... coming up to two years since swearing in now! How bizarre, unprecedented almost, just more 'trust me'. Poor man, he could be making so many more billions but through the greatness of his heart he's losing all that to 'help' America... because those great deals wouldn't end up in the hundreds of lawsuits and bankruptcy like so many of his past deals have? I'm sorry I've been so unfair toward the man who boasts of having such great genes and genius. When do the be-headings of the enemies of the people, er, I mean journalists, begin in the rose garden?

Are there people in the U.S. who actually do want to destroy the other party/side? What do you have with a one party state? You'd think the basics of what the U.S. of A. is would mitigate against the kind of one note demonization rhetoric of the most motivated fanatics. Do we really need to be reminded and educated about something so basic as needing more than one political party? There are anti-monopoly laws in business that almost everyone sees as a good thing. Perhaps, just in case, someone will need to put in something to apply that principle to politics for the future?

In my defense, I never once referred to Ivanka as a "dumb blonde", because her hair color has nothing to do with her actions and to intimate that would be stereotyping all women with blonde hair, of which my older daughter is one but who is most assuredly not dumb.

It was no big, really. Just that for anyone to say I didn't react when names were directed at Trump's 'side' or whatever they are (what is Ivanka's official job title?) wasn't the case. People call Justin Trudeau various things, it comes with these kinds of jobs really, though sadly I do see an upswing even in Canada of the going low and people being dragged down there in reaction. Being the old school marm 'tsk tsking' isn't really 'me'. Oh, well, maybe it is now. I apologize if you didn't write dumb blonde... I was sure I read it somewhere back there, there was a lot about it and I thought it was a pretty minor story news-wise.

Also there would be a lot fewer complaints about Trump if he would stop doing and saying awful things. A million times … THIS.

Macron was lecturing Trump about Nationalism and now his country burns.
Another self-promoting prevaricator continues to try make a living off a bigger one, courtesy the Pravda of the Trump administration. Trump's pronouncement about nationalism was the exact opposite of a lesson in how to run a democratic republic.

And Fact-Free Fox gets it wrong...again...as the protesters are speaking out against a gas tax, not necessarily Macron himself. Sure, it's his government that put the tax in place, but the headline on the screen makes it seem like the "yellow vests" are only out there because of Macron.

Well, what do you expect from the Kremlin News Network? Good catch, Captain! I also like the way you made an assertion about FOX News … and then backed it up!
