I have X-Men #3 & #4. I bought them for about 20$/ea in the early '90s, sold to me as G & VG respectively, but both probably considerably worse.

The story in FF #25 and #26 is one of my candidates for best comic book stories ever.

Almost let the whole month go by without updating this thread. July 1964 was a significant month in my early comic-book history. Second grade was over, so I wasn't walking past the store every day. The only comic I bought that month was something new and different:
Pep #173 - my first Archie comic, and my first non-superhero comic book purchase. I'm not sure when I got my first Classics Illustrated; it may have been around this time too, but I didn't buy those. For the next year or so, I was often in the mood for something funny, and Archie comics were the ones I chose.
In the years since, I've acquired copies of:
Tarzan #145 (Gold Key) Fantastic Four #31 (coverless) Journey into Mystery #108 Tales of Suspense #58 (Iron Man vs. Cap, lead-in to the new Cap feature next issue) Tales to Astonish #60 (first Hulk feature story since Hulk #6) Yogi Bear #18

For whatever reason, I don't think I bought anything off the stands in August of '64. I have a batch of DC's that were on sale then, but I don't recall buying any of them when they were new. I do remember that I saw ads for a few of them, though, in previous months' issue, especially the Flash 80-page Giant, with its distinctive Infantino-styled design. Even then I recognized and regarded Infantino's covers and interior art as more "adult" than the art in Adventure. (Though I had no idea who the artist was.) His art on the cover (except on Batman and Detective) almost always signaled that I would have to step up my game to understand the stories, too.

All right, thanks to Mike's Amazing World of Comics, I can now list what I've got according to what was on sale in August of 1964. Again, unless noted, all of these are reprints for me, but I love 'em. More a reader than collector or investor. Wow ! Really surprised I don't have more than this. Someday I'm getting my collection cataloged.

I have always found covers with a black background appealing, I think because one of my first comics was Adventure 312, with Lightning Lad being revived from the dead. The black background was stark, serious, and imported significance. Anyway, this was another of those covers that grabbed me right away. It was the first JLA I can distinctly remember buying and if the black background weren’t enough, the eye-catching “Electrifying announcement,” told me I was in for something important. The other comic I’m sure I bought that month was World’s Finest 145, which I still recall because it reprinted the second half of a Green Arrow-Aquaman team-up/crossover in which they switched venues. I wasn’t really keyed in to all of those fanboyish aspects, but I knew I liked this superhero because he reminded me so much of one of my favorites, Robin Hood. This hooked me on Green Arrow.

I was still a bit too young to buy any of these off the stands, and I don't happen to have any back issues from this month. I do have the hardcover edition of Feiffer's Great Comic Book Heroes, which I guess must've stayed in print well into the 1970s.

Once upon a time I had FF #43, FF Annual #3 and Avengers #20, all bought as back issues some years later, 35 cents each (annuals/giants were a buck five). Checking Mike's I see I didn't have any DCs from July 1965.
