I was just thinking with the release of Disney + that we're about to see reports indicating the slow death of cable and satellite companies.
My situation hasn't changed much since page one of this thread four years ago. Still got Netflix, and now Amazon Prime (came with the membership) and Hulu (came with the girlfriend), as well as a digital antenna on my TV, but I don't use any of them all that much. I make it my choice not to be a binge TV watcher, as I know it doesn't make me happy.

I illegally(ish) stream everything.
But I pay 5 bucks a month to watch Dungeons and Dragons.

My last call to Comcast to complain about the price/see if I can drop cable reasonably... ended up getting my DVR service and netflix included in the cable package... so that wasn't terrible. I'd still prefer to have just internet and cancel cable in favor of the sports packages I need, but still not a practical option in my town.

This month marks three years since I've had cable TV. We dumped it shortly after I returned to work following my being laid-off for eight months.
Since doing so, we've utilized Netflix, Hulu, and Amazon Prime for our entertainment needs, and we've recently signed up for Disney+ (shout-out to @mrp for letting me know about the deal that allowed me to prepay for 3 years at around $4/month). I've twice signed up for HBO Now in order to watch GoT, but I dropped it immediately after the seasons were finished.
The only thing I miss about having cable is live sports. I get a survey from Comcast every 6-8 weeks that asks about my media consumption habits and methods, and I always use the free text area to tell them that I would consider coming back in a limited capacity if I could choose my channels a la carte (my wife really wants access to TCM again). I personally believe that an a la carte option is coming to cable, because they have to see the writing on the wall that their current model of bloated packages full of channels that people don't actually want is no longer acceptable. I would pay a slight upcharge per channel and commit to a full year at a time if I could get the 10-15 channels I want, but I have zero interest in A&E, BET, CNN, CMT, MTV, VH1, or any of the myriad other channels they make me pay for, and I would not sign up for something like ESPN because I have zero interest in the NFL or NBA, which are their bread and butter.
Choice is coming with cable. I can feel it.

We gave up cable TV in 2001 and have never missed it. There is more online content than we can watch anyway. We have Amazon Prime (with BritBox) and Netflix. We don’t watch sports or news.

A month ago, I ended up paying an extra $10.00 for TCM ... and I watch about 2-3 movies a week times a week and sometimes more ... it's still a good deal.

My household has been without any type of cable for about 4 years. We use a inexpensive satellite antennae and stream Netflix. I have no interest in Disney+.
