This was my concern as well as to if they were even going to be able to pull him from the book because he's a co-creator. Not just a hired artist. Given the givens, I'd still support a Wiebe/New artist, even if Upchurch gets some royalties. I won't punish Wiebe. I am going to continue to get the book as well. At least he's off as artist/artistic contributor to the book.

Batman '66 #17 (TPB) Deathlok #2 Rasputin #2 (if they get it and still have #1)
I'll probably flip through Gotham by Midnight, but I doubt I'll grab it.

They're still the House of Ideas. It's all big ideas comics that Morrison set the mold for in modern comics. That's the essential core of tentpole comic publishing that both Marvel and DC follow now. What is not the focus and the element I see missing is the story and the character development. It's all about the idea and forget everything else. -M You are brilliantly spot-on with the statement in bold. It's what Hickman does and how he writes for Marvel. Same with Bendis. Which is WHY I can hardly tolerate the "big" name titles right now from Marvel. My fave characters are written like hell, and when they're not, well, those books flop. I just do not understand WHY people buy and like the garbage (mostly) that Marvel is putting out now. Seriously, Bendis' X-Men truly SUCK. I think that's to do with mass appeal. There are more people who aren't character specific or read for good characterisation than the ones who are character specific/ read for good characterisation who read comics, as a result of that there are more people who do not care if characters are written horribly and so they have no problem with buying those comics because they don't read for the characters they read for the action or whatever. but yeah Marvel has things I like about their universe but they barely do anything with those things so I don't really care much for the company because of that.

Skimming through Axel Alonso weekly Q&A with CBR, I discovered issue #13 of Daredevil begins to wrap up Mark Waid and Chris Samnee's run on he book, and both will be moving to other projects afterwards....which is a bummer. Not sure who will take over, but that could be the death knell of monthly Marvels for me as it is only one of 2 books I get and I am always looking to trim my pull list... -M I saw the report about this and was wondering if anyone else remembers an interview with Mark Waid where he said that DD was his dream job and Marvel would have to pull the book from his dead fingers(or some such). Lo, 18 months later, not a lotta pryin' goin' on here. Marvel is practically dead to me. I haven't liked it much the last few years. The stuff I have liked dies, like The Crew, Agents of Atlas, Mystery Men. Ya know, they used to known as, wait for it, the House of Ideas. Can you believe it ? The money I used to spend on Marvel goes to all the great indies out there. Still buying and loving DC. If you manage to ignore Hickman and Bendis, the last couple of years have been AMAZING from Marvel: Ellis' Moon Knight, the new Ms Marvel, Captain Marvel, Soule's She-Hulk, Black Widow, Waid's Daredevil, Slott's Silver Surfer, Elektra, Hawkeye, Loki, Rocket Raccoon, FF have all been wonderful comics that allowed for creative freedom and (gasp!) fun in comic books that I just cannot find from DC as often. I agree, mainly, and would add Amazing Spider-Man(yes even Superior), Superior Foes(R.I.P.), and Thor. I want to like Hickmans Avengers, but its pissing me off. I do like Bendis on the 2 X-Men books though, and despite myself I really love the All-New X-Men. I thought the time lost plot was going to crash and burn, but am really getting into what hes done, especially some of the new relationships. The Cyclops spin-off is a blast too. Aarons Thor:God of Thunder rocked my world, I thought God-Bomb one of the greatest Thor stories I've seen, and I'm liking the new direction too. I dont have any real problem with them changing characters around(Thor and Cap) as long as I like the stories they put out, so I'm in for the meantime.

Lo, 18 months later, not a lotta pryin' goin' on here. I will probably ask Mark next time I see him what the deal was with leaving Daredevil. We've hung out at cons and events surrounding cons (including the night we held a roast for him at the restaurant I work at part time), and we've talked comics off the record quite a few times over the last 2 years when we do. I do know, he has been pushing the con circuit hard the last 2 years, and was planning on taking 2015 off from all but the major cons, he has another creator-owned OGN on the plate for Legendary, has a couple things in the pipeline for Thrillbent (more Empire, more Insufferable, and some other things, a new SHIELD series launching next month for Marvel, is now a co-owner of a pair of comic shops, and has a lot of other things on his plate, and has said pretty much that he wants to keep a hand in creator-owned stuff as much as he loves working with the classic characters, and that his biggest personal fear is staying on a book too long, when the story he had to tell is done but he hangs on because he loves the character, so he may have felt with everything else on his plate he had come to a natural conclusion on his Daredevil story. Especially if Marvel was asking for some alterations to line it up with the Netflix series launch next year. I wouldn't be surprised to see him launching something new for Marvel next year as well in the next round of launches likely in the spring. -M

I don't know if it's because I haven't read much recent stuff (and no X-titles), but I feel like I was supposed to have a stronger reaction (read: any reaction at all) to the reveal at the end of Deathlok.
Rasputin is real good, but Grecian (author)leaves so much up to Rossmo (artist) that it feels like I'm not getting a full comic each month.
Flipped through Gotham by Midnight and passed.

Just started the death of Archie trade, and the first few chapters maintain the high quality of the first years of the Life with Archie mag. It's a pity this had to end so soon, before there were kids around, even.
One of my biggest reserves regarding Arch dying at the end is that it looked like a stunt. Yes, people die eventually, but Life with Archie had pretty much been about real life and I was thinking "if an editor thinks that getting shot and killed is part of a normal life, then our society is facing a really big problem". Well, since that's precisely the point of this last story arc, I can't object anymore. Our society is ill, and this is clearly stated in the book. (Not only because of both Clay and Arch getting shot, but also because of Wall Street tearing down the life of small town America... and because of politicians who are clearly in it for the prestige of the position more than to better the lives of yhei fellow citizens.)
Good job all around.
