For those of you who have visited your comic stores recently, has #1 been moving briskly? I'm wondering if there will be a 2nd printing or if the market has been flooded? I saw a pile of what looked to be about a dozen unsold copies of #1 at my local store when I was in on Saturday. Granted, it's not the biggest nor busiest store in my area, but I thought it was noteworthy for such a high profile #1. I haven't gone to a 'real' comic book store, but Newbury Comics has huge piles of its variant (both regular and sketch) on the shelves, at both stores I went to.. on for FCBD and one today (to pick up a CD for the wife for mother's day). Edit: Looks like Scott already posted this answer . Guess we travel in the same circles You should really stick with Ms. Marvel on principle if nothing else, we need more teen comics! MY teen loved it, FWIW, her first current series I think.

I'll be the one naysayer on Rat Queens, as I posted before elsewhere, all the jokes were tired and cliche if you spent any significant time at rpg gaming tables, forums, or conventions over the last 35 years. I'm glad people like it, but those jokes stopped being funny for me sometime around 1991 because I had been hearing them for a decade plus since I started playing a D&D at that point and a joke heard too many times, particularly jokes that weren't that good to begin with, just don't resonate or entertain for that long. The story for me felt mostly like narrative threads trying to tie the jokes together, and since the jokers were predictable, so was the story for me. Call me a curmudgeon when it comes to gaming related material, or perhaps in that context grognard might be a better term. I hope the book does well and those that are enjoying it continue to do so, it's just not for me and I passed my copy of #1 on to Dan B because I want the book to find an audience that enjoys what it has to offer. I'm not that audience, neither was my wife who typically loves "girls in gaming/fantasy" type material. She read the online webcomic intros and the first issue and was like meh, been there, done that, don't buy it anymore unless you like it, I won't be reading it.

Classic Comic Curmudgeons, cover your eyes and block your ears! Sounds familiar....got me a variant too. Very nice cover, and little Betty is my favourite. The bloody thing is still in its airmail package from England but this is what it looks like.

Have you heard about the blank variant for #1? It was sold at NYCC and ECCC, but apparently when they left NYCC, they accidentally left the extra unsold copies behind. They went back for them only to find the con had thrown them all out. So apparently the only blank #1's out there are the ones that happened to be sold at the cons before the rest of the print run got tossed in the trash, along with a handful supposedly owned by Roc Upchurch for his own use. One of the reps who works with the creators said he estimates there are only about 300 copies of the blank cover extant. I've been checking ebay and I've only seen one so far, that sold in a small lot along with a normal #1 for $36.

I'm not seeing it listed as a variant either. But now I'm piqued....

Read ASM #1 today.. pretty good. The story is looking like it's going to be pretty interesting, though I have to say I'm getting a little tired of Ramos on Art.

I would have preferred to read a single, longer story than all the truncated snippets we got. It felt like a compilation of Free Comic Book Day issues meant to act as promotional material for other books. Anyone else think it was a bit odd that MJ seemed to coldly dismiss Peter as an "idiot"? I get that she feels like she has to move on with her own life, but that seems rather out of character for her and not fitting with their history.

I'm like....seriously trying to figure out why there's a #1.1 which went on sale May 7...but #2 comes out May 21. I don't like these decimal number editions, they're a pain in the ass to keep track off if you're not up to date with what's being released. That goes for 700.1 - 700.5 as well.

As near as I can tell, the 1.1 - 1.4 is a mini series with Slott doing some ret-conning... I'm thinking it's going to feature that kid Spidey gave an autograph to in the flashback sequence of #1... It perhaps could even tie in to 'Original Sin' with the whole 'the spider bit a 2nd person' thing, but I suspect that'll be in the 'real' book.
I didn't get the 700.1 - 700.5.. I'd take it if someone gave it to me, but I didn't want to pay $20 (well, $18 or whatever) all at once for a bunch of out of continuity one offs without any reviews. The digital first DC stuff (Legends of the Dark Knight and Adventures of Superman) is good, but I feel like Marvel's not good at that.

Since I'm a big fan, I was happy to get a Spidey 2099 preview, and I thought the Black Cat extended Epilogue was really good. I could have done without the goofy 'this is Spiderman' piece, and the 'Learning to Crawl' promo, but overall I felt I got my $5.99 worth. .. especially if I hadn't already read Inhuman.

I read Magic Wind FCBD edition. Magic Wind is an ex-US soldier and a Sioux Shaman. In this he goes out West with Edgar Allan Poe to fight Mormons and cthulu(?). I guess this is the beginning (30pp) of an upcoming graphic-novel sized volume. Hopefully they give the copyediting another pass, as there were some spelling errors. Some fun ideas in play, anyway.
