Well six more new52 books bite the dust come August. All Star Western, Superboy, Batwing, Birds of Prey, Trinity of Sin Pandora and Trinity of Sin: Phantom Stranger all cancelled as of August. CBR article
All of the weeklies end next March and I keep hearing rumors of it all leading to some new Crisis that will allow them to reset. Of course rumors emerged this morning at the Marvel presentation in Vegas for comics retailers that Hickman's Incursion storylines will be skipping the Marvel timeline ahead a chunk of time and leading to some kind of reboot for them too. Life with Archie 36 which features the much talked about death of Archie is going to have a $9.99 cover (it's double-sized)...but better dealers like Midtown have it available on advance order for around $6.50. I'm not sure how many my own dealer will order, his Archie customers prefer the digests to the magazine....

Life with Archie 36 which features the much talked about death of Archie is going to have a $9.99 cover (it's double-sized)...but better dealers like Midtown have it available on advance order for around $6.50. I'm not sure how many my own dealer will order, his Archie customers prefer the digests to the magazine.... One odd thing about this issue is that the magazine is ending with #36, which as you say is a double sized issue priced at $9.99. However, they are also issuing a comic book sized edition, where the double sized story is split into two issues, #36 and #37. Those have a bunch of variant covers, and are coming out over a two week period, rather than at the same time. I just find it a bit weird that there will be a #37 issue of a comic book series that not only no longer exists, but technically never existed. |

Anyone else get a Watcher's eye this week?  Mine is now sitting on my desk waiting for Doc Strange and the Punisher to show and wreak vengeance on me....  I mean who doesn't like an oversized glow-in-the-dark superball made to resemble an eyeball? -M |

I was reading a breakdown of the DC sales for April on the Beat. Wow, those sales are absolutely pathetic. A lot of their books are doing worse now than they were pre-New 52. They need to consider going back to the old continuity or something, what they're doing is just not working at all. Harras and Didio need to go.

I think Marvel and DC both have new event/reboots lined up. Marvel would be very ill-advised to do a reboot, since its continued universe is a major advantage it has over DC. Why antagonize old fans needlessly when new ones can be drawn in by simply slapping a new #1 on a cover (which happens every other year anyway) and by not trying to retrofit every single bit of past continuity in today's plotlines? It's not my meagre monetary contribution that'll make a difference, but like I have no intention of ever buying a nu52 book nor have I ever followed the Ultimate line, I do not intend to read rebooted Marvel books. No money for rebooters! |

I agree. I think starting over with a new #1 for new creative teams isn't the worst way to do business going forward. And I think it would be a step backwards as they've really been doing some great stuff and experimenting with their books.

Shame, I was reading ASW; although the out of time storyline sucked, it was one of 2 Nu52 books I was reading. I have to give Jimmy Palmiotti and Justin Gray credit. They gave us 9 years of Jonah Hex; over 105 issues and one hardcover. They must be the longest creative team on that character, I would imagine. I'm thankful for that. No matter how great 3 titles are in sales, 49 of them need help and the boost. That's not good editorial leadership. How can someone have a job still with those numbers? That's grounds for dismissal in any other occupation, be it sales or just the MLB. I'm hoping the new DC Event will be called Cosmic Etch-A-Sketch, where you shake your Nu52 titles it reverts back to the mid-90s, where DC books were plenty and had talent on them. |

Do you realize the last time the Justice League was in their own book was last August. LAST AUGUST!!!
Say what you want about Marvel double shipping but it was awesome to have Infinity come and go in three months. Forever Evil and Zero Year have just held the entire DCU hostage forever. And guess what? Another Green Lantern event on the way.
