Interesting that you think so highly of the Lava Man. Don't you think Cobra, Mr. Hyde, Absorbing Man, the Wrecker, Enchantress, etc, are all more historically significant?

Robert, Here's my first 5 Thor Villains in Order of Importance 1) The Wrecker / Loki - Tied for 1st Place 2) Hela 3) Enchantress 4) Absorbing Man 5) Lava Man I know very little of King Cobra and Mr. Hyde ... but I do know Desak, Destroyer, Korvac, Midgard Serpent, and Ultimo. Here my list of top 10 Thor's Villains 1. The Wrecker 2. Loki 3. Hela 4. Enchantress 5. Absorbing Man 6. Lava Man 7. Ultimo 8. Destroyer 9. Korvac 10, Desak To me, these 10 are historically significant in my own world Robert and these are the 10 that I think of Thor's greatest enemies and all the rest - I don't know that well and I did not read many Thor's books - maybe less than 40 of them and that along with the Avengers ... that's pretty sums up my understanding of Thor.

Ultimo isn't really a Thor villain. They only battled once, in the '67 Avengers Annual. Or did you mean Ulik?
Cei-U! And Desak is so obscure, *I* had to look him up!

Ah, I see. Well, many of the greatest Avengers villains debuted in Thor. Though if you get around to reading more classic Thor, I'm sure you'll add Ulik and Karnilla to your list.

Desak & Ulik (tied for 10th place) I just wanted to say thanks for jarring my memory of both Ulik and Karnilla and same goes to Cei-U for his additional input as well. These TEN are the most significant of all Thor's Villains that I know of and that is based on my readings of the early stories of The Mighty Thor.

Okay, Mech, I'll bite: who is Desak? I find no reference to him in any of my indexes and I've covered every Thor appearance between Journey into Mystery #83 and Thor #372 (the October '86 issue). Do you mean Durok a.k.a. The Demolisher, a very obscure villain from the Stan Lee-John Buscema era?
Cei-U! I summon the confusion!

"Desak Sterixian, more commonly known as Desak the God Slayer, is a fictional character appearing in American comic books published by Marvel Comics. The character was created by Dan Jurgens and Tom Grummett and first appears in Thor Annual 2001."
This is from the wiki article. I'd never heard of him either. I stopped reading the Heroes Return Thor run around issue #25, so I just missed that annual.

That would explain why I've never heard of him. Aside from his appearances in the Busiek-Perez era Avengers, I haven't read a new Thor comic since '86 (I think I may have read one around the time of Heroes Reborn but I've mercifully blocked it from my memory).
Cei-U! Mystery solved!

Cei-U! Mystery solved! Jurgens' run is pretty darn good for the first 25 issues with John Romita Jr. I think I stuck around about six issues after that, but it seemed to me that Jurgens began to write Thor as if he was still writing Superman. Anyone remember Thor Girl?

I've checked all my comic books that dealt with Mighty Thor and not one of them contains a character of Magog's - who happen to be a demon of some sorts. I've no concept of him and it's character ... Prince Hal.
