I used to subscribe to these following magazines for several years
National Geographic Sports Illustrated Sporting News Astronomy Now Playing, Turner Classic Movies
Then, I stopped because it's getting way out of hand here and I just having space issues and having said that I just have to be careful when I do buy them at the Grocery Store and I have to conserve space for future comic books that I love. I'm thinking about subscribing to National Geographic again, because I can donate it to the Library and they can send them to various Public Schools for Educational Purposes and get a nice little tax break.

Mad and Cracked as a kid, the odd issue of Discover since, a couple years of GMR magazine free with a membership card at a video game store, Wizard until they folded, CBFD until my LCS stopped carrying it, a year or so getting FHM type magazines until getting a computer made insanely air-brushed pics of starlets in tank tops seem quaint.

Lets hear about other non-comic magazines that you read or collected and remember fondly (or not). I remember back in the early to mid 90's I used to regularly purchase Command Magazine from the newspaper stands. It is not carried by every news stand, so I had to take the subway to Manhattan to one of the bigger news stands in downtown and purchase it there. I loved reading about ancient history and World War II. The magazine would have great articles and battle maps and pictures of dissected and truncated views of ancient warships. Then it is a bastion of information and there's a lot of cited works, so I can look up the literature in the library for further reading. Back when the internet wasn't readily available to provide historical information and tidbits, this magazine was a great read for me each month.

I don't buy or get subscriptions, but I recently started reading some periodicals in the library. I read National Geographic, 'Geschiedenis' and 'InBrabant' (history magazines), 'Atelier' and 'Tableau' (art magazines), and 'Roots' (hiking magazine). I don't get around to reading every issue.

I read a few monthly and weekly magazines, mostly french ones, every issues :
- So Foot, a magazine that tackles global world and sociological matters of the past and present through the lense of football, very good publication. - Mad Movies, a magazine about cinema, from Z movies to all time classics, but always movies that are about the craft of movie making. - Le Courier International which is a weekly newspaper with articles from various publications from around the globe and sociological columns.
I also used to have subscription to those :
The Wire, greatest music magazine ever, still so. 2000AD and Deadline.

I get Doctor Who Magazine every month. I actually started buying it when Doctor Who was not on the air, and it was a way of reminding myself that my favourite show of all time was gone but not forgotten. It was actually quite an accomplishment for them to keep a magazine going for a show that had been off the air for more than a decade. With Doctor Who's triumphant return to TV, the magazine enjoyed a resurgence. Although for a while, it seemed to be mostly catering to the new fans brought in by the new series, it gradually returned to an equilibrium, and acknowledged that there were plenty of us who had been fans for decades and had loved the show even when it wasn't cool (and, indeed, was the very opposite of cool). I've been buying DWM since its first issue, back when it was Doctor Who Weekly, so it's been a regular part of my life for 37 years now. This May, it will reach its 500th issue. It is officially the world's longest running magazine based on a TV series.

I'll have to ask them about that. I also read the BBC History magazine and Mental Floss.
